He may start against the Yankees too. What I meant was why give them a few more Eopitches yesterday to possibly help them figure out a pitcher that had handled them very nicely to date.
Totally agree. That’s why I believe Porky won’t go more than 3 today.

Okay, so the Sox have recovered their momentum with a 10-2 drubbing of the Yankees. Bring on the playoffs.

Wait...four days off first? What the hell is Cora thinking giving these guys four days off? All momentum will be lost. They're fucked.

We are really being too lenient on Cora - I blame it on political correctness. Nobody wants to be seen as criticizing a former World Series winning coach. However he has grossly mismanaged the team the past few months, giving players time off and using guys in unfamiliar bullpen roles just because the team had a decent lead in the standings. Their record aside, he is clearly in over his head and maybe Dombrowski can convince sign one of the guys mentioned upthread to serve as the adult on the bench for the playoffs or have La Russa join the team in a similar capacity.

Stat nerds may love Cora and his analytics-friendly approach but baseball is a game won on the field, non in spreadsheets. Managers like La Russa, Showalter, Scioscia and the like have been around and know this. Their rigorous approach to playing time and bullpen usage prove out in the playoffs year after year. Meanwhile, Cora got lucky with the Astros and sailed into his job where he has been a scratch manager at best. They may not win one game more under him as Red Sox manager...

All this momentum talk is so stupid. Momentum does not exist from game to game. Get the pitchers a rest when up as big as they were and play the position guys enough to keep their timing. Then, let the chips fall where they may beginning on Friday.

Please, how can you put faith in a GM who doesn't even know when to trade a player like Mookie, who is at his peak, before he slumps or is injured???

You are right. This team is pretty screwed. Cora sat around while the team was backing into the playoffs and Dombrowski clearly had a window to maximize value by trading Mookie and maybe Xander for a few high A pieces at the deadline, ensuring that this team isn't some over the hill gang of declining ok players in two years. Cashman has chunks of Dombrowski in his PC Richard.

Are Kerrigan, Kevin Kennedy and Verylittle alive? Kevin Kennedy was good.He won a division then nearly got the wild card after a bad April and May. They had the best record in 96 from June 1st on I believe. He never should have been fired. Better then Jimy Williams. Duquette thought Kennedy was too close to the players.[

Let's nip this bullshit in the bud right fucking now.

Kevin Kennedy was terribad. "Better than Jimy Williams" is not praise. You don't get to say he nearly got the wild card after a bad April and May without acknowledging that the way the team played in April and May made it completely obvious that THEY WEREN'T READY TO START THE SEASON.

That's the manager's fault.

Also, that jackwagon flat out lied to Mike Greenwell, ultimately causing bad blood between Greenwell and management. Ultimately a good thing since it meant Greenwell went elsewhere, but still a shitty thing in a manager.

Also, Tom Gordon's pitch counts want to punch you in the face.

@Rasputin I am 99 9999999 percent certain Pato was joking..granted I agree Kennedy is a bad manager aa evidenced by the fact he was never hired anywhere else.
These jerks have it way toooo easy. Why not bring in a hardliner like Dick Williams to take names and kick ass.
