Or the fucking “hand pass”.
Wasn’t the hand pass game 6, where Ullmark was giving up everything they came his way? Even if that goal is allowed no doubt in my mind the Bruins lose that lead. Swayman should have come in after the 2nd in that game.

I can’t recall anything like this Panthers team.

oh, and eff them too.
I think the 2012 LA Kings run was more out of nowhere and more impressive. They were the 8th seed in the West, went 12-2 through the western conference playoffs, taking out the President's Trophy winning Canucks in 5 in the first round, the 109 point President's trophy runner up St. Louis Blues in a sweep in round 2, then sweeping division winning Phoenix in the WCF. They were +19 through the conference playoffs, had an 8 game winning streak mixed in.

Florida is 12-4, +7. They are 6-0 in OT and 9-1 in one goal games. It's a ridiculous run of luck. That Kings team legitimately destroyed everything in their path. The Panthers are flipping coins and having a ridiculous run of having it come up heads for them.

On the plus side of variance with a hot keeper, but you know what? They outwork you. Hockey more than the other three sports is one where you can overcome a lot by just getting in the fucking corners and digging and grinding.

But Bob is the difference.
Yes. Non-stop motor, constantly, aggressively, almost recklessly applying pressure. And not in an overly dirty way.

They deserve everything they’re getting. And this Bruins team was so fucking good that they still had the series in Game 6 and Game 7, despite playing with their heads firmly lodged up their asses.

They still didn't have to take out a juggernaut like this year's Bruins. Though having that happen to the Canucks right after the 2011 Finals is well, something. :)

On the flip side, I don't think Florida is a typical 8-seed. They were the juggernaut last year, 122 point Presidents Trophy winner. They lost some of the fringe/deadline guys (Giroux, Chiarot, Marchment) and made the big Huberdeau/Weegar for Tkachuk deal but otherwise ran back the same team. I think their true talent was probably closer to 105-110 points in the regular season than 92. After their bye week they played the final 30 games in a 104 point pace.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm fully on board the Panthers train. I've been rooting for them the whole way after they beat the Bruins...and I sure as hell didn't want Toronto or Carolina to get into the Finals.

"Per Natural Stat Trick, Carolina out-chanced Florida 122-107 in the series. Carolina had 62 high-danger chances to Florida’s 49."

Also - with the revelation Lindholm was severely injured without knowing it, and it seems like Ullmark pumpkined in front of our eyes - I don't think the Bruins make it out of the East no matter what. Plenty of room for debate on that, but they ended up going into the playoffs arguably at their weakest all year.

Sakic in 1996

plus he gave the cup to Ray instead of raising it first

Both of the Lemieux

Roy and a Giguere if we’re counting goalies

Depends on how you want to define clutch but Justin Williams has the Mr. Game 7 moniker. His teams were 8-1 in game 7's and he had 7g 8a for 15 points in game 7's.

It would have put them up two. I would take my chances on them holding the lead. The call was a HUGE momentum shift.

No, It would've put them up 1. It was 2-2 when that happened. Tkachuk scored a few minutes later to make it 3-2 which is where it was until all hell broke loose in the 3rd period.

Uhhhhh, since when can they go to review searching for a penalty that wasn't called just because a team complained about it?

If you want to feel better about the Celtics game, watch this Knights-Stars game. Oettinger isn’t at fault for tonight, but he ain’t helping either.

A sneaky conversation to have in the wake of this is if Jamie Benn has a positive impact on this team. Dude does something insanely stupid to get himself suspended multiple games in the WCF, a borderline impossible feat by itself, then watches them win the two games he’s out. And when he’s back in, his team turns back into the best ad for Depends.
