Does the Southern orientation of the semifinalists affect your interest in these games? Alternatively, are you excited about watching these teams because of their styles?

My buddy was a Whalers fan, then adopted the Rangers, moved to Colorado and lived there for over 10 years, but currently lives in Vegas and now is a big Knights fan. So I'm rooting for them. These other teams don't generate many feelings for me. I dislike the Panthers as the "other" Florida team (I live in Tampa and the Bolts are my 2nd team). I still dislike the Canes from the 09 playoffs. Fuck Scott Walker. I had forgotten that Seidenberg and Samsonov were on that team. I still think about the hypo where Seguin plays on the Bruins for another 3-4 seasons at least, and I don't hold anything against him. So I'm generally rooting for West > East, and Vegas > Dallas, but I'm more focused on the Celtics than these games personally, even though I enjoy the NHL a lot more than the NBA.

With the Bruins out I haven’t been watching. I opened this thread to see the matchups and laughed. If some of the more prestige (to me) franchises were in it I would probably tune in. Minor hypocrisy from me is that if Lightning were in it I would watch because I take my son to their games (my in laws live in central FL).

I haven't been watching much because the Bruins' loss still stings. I will likely start tuning back in though

As far as the teams, I'm a hockey fan, I don't give a shit about the jerseys...good hockey teams are good hockey teams whatever the market they represent.

I know the Islanders and Devils weren't exactly the world's toughest path to this point, but it's still impressive what Carolina has been doing minus Svechnikov and Teravainen. They don't really have anyone I despise on their roster anymore either, so I think I'm probably slightly tilting in their direction here, but I don't have particularly strong feelings about wanting anyone to win at this point other than not wanting Florida to take home the Cup. Maybe I'd like to see Bruce win one with Vegas. I dunno. But even with the pain from the Bruins loss, there have been some fun series to watch, and Vegas/Dallas should be a blast.

Pacioretty winning would be cool as I'd probably get a chance to see the Cup in person (bittersweet as it may be).

Pavelski winning would be cool also.

Panthers - whatever. Vegas? Fuck those cap cheats. Also fuck Barbashev and Pietrangelo.

I’m really interested in seeing what the ratings look like for CBC and Sportsnet in Canada for these series.
Canada hasn't won the cup in 30 years. Not sure what else they are going to watch. It's probably creeping up into the 50s (farenheit) in Edmonton, so I guess they will come out of the mall and maybe get some sun instead of watching.

Nah, they are still going to watch.

Had Carolina over Dallas before the season started so I'm pulling for that outcome. That said, I'm a self admitted snob when it comes to hockey and don't like that there are only non-hockey cities left.

For me I guess it's go Dallas as I'd love to see Pavelski lift the cup. Screw the Knights and Brindmore and Staal is enough reason to hate the Canes. Florida is well Florida. haha

I have never been in a real fist fight in my life (shocker, I know), but Paul Maurice just seems like the kind of person that if I happened to be walking by him in the street, I would be able to resist punching him. I would clearly get my ass kicked, but I just don't think I could resist it.

I see this thread bumped, and so I enter it and it always leaves me wondering how you guys can continue to follow the NHL playoffs. You're stronger than I am. It's akin to watching the Atlanta Hawks run train on your recent ex.

This is my first game back.

I wish I had the confidence to say "That makes me horned up for hockey" while sitting 2 feet from Wayne Gretzky. Bissonnette cracks me up.

It appears the refs got the message from Maurice, as Gudas sucker punches a dude while making a check.

Edit: And right on cue

Man. Having just gotten the alert and watched the video on the disallowed goal. I can’t say which rule is more consistently called. Catch/no catch football or goal/no goal interference.

It’s just another element to the luck equation that is the NHL playoffs.

What has Jordan ever done?
Oh I dunno, utter silence in the face of his brothers' bigotry certainly looks like complicity to me. Oh and the role he played in eliminating the Bs last year (though he got a lot of help from the linesmen in the faceoff dot against Bergeron). Fuck all of them.
