Everything I hear has me more and more certain that not only isn't Luck going to be ready next Fall, but he's never going to be anything but a shadow of what he was, in which case not only will McDaniels look prescient, but it will be fascinating to see exactly how Colts fans manage to blame it all on Kraft.
I can’t believe Luck is going to be 29 this September. He can be cut after next season for a $12.8M cap hit. Drops to $6.4M in 2020. End of the day, Irsay will have paid Luck a shit ton of money and gotten virtually nothing out of him.

If it plays out that way, it’s going to be very sad. He is (or was) a great talent and quality person.

Would not be the first guy ruined for want of an o-line. David Carr never had a chance. Jim Plunkett was nearly killed as a Patriot.

All this skull talk because nobody went with giving Pat the Patriot an eyepatch and five o'clock shadow.

"What has he done?" Rondo told the Worcester Telegram & Gazette in January. When told that Thomas led the Celtics to the Eastern Conference finals last season, Rondo said, "Oh, that's what we celebrate around here?"

"This is the Boston Celtics," Rondo said. "This isn't the Phoenix Suns. No disrespect to any other organization, but you don't hang conference titles. Do we hang going to the conference finals? What do we hang here?"
Rajon Rondo was one Indianapolis Colts reference away from a Kevin-Faulk-Brady-jersey-at-the-draft hall of fame troll job.

Edit: but no disrespect!

I've always hated that guy. He has the whiniest voice ever. His tears back in the 2003-2004 playoffs were delicious. Fuck that guy.

I can't find the clip, but the Colts got penalized on a trick play and his call was classic, something along the lines of,"Oh, they're calling a penalty, we practiced that play all week and they're calling a penalty!"

He was a bad announcer and a turd satchel. Good riddance.

I definitely remember that. Illegal formation or some such. "And the refs blew it again" IIRC.

Calling all of the Colts players by their first name gave his broadasts a real fireside chat feel.
I had to endure this idiot from 2003-2016 while living in Indianapolis. He was the Johnny Most of the Midwest. The laudatory comments about his objectivity are laughable. He was a rednecky hayseed, but he was THEIR hayseed.

Although I always especially enjoyed his salty, salty tears whenever the NEP beat the Colts.

I loved Johnny because a) he rarely identified Celtics by their first name, and b) he was OUR homer. Lamey was a very poor man's Most.

Years ago, I came to believe that everything about the Indiana Colts is fraudulent.

This belief not only endures, it has yet to take any significant resistance.

After yesterday’s no-show by the Colts, does Reich get any heat for having his team woefully unprepared?
Visually yesterday he also had a bit of Jim Caldwell going on... one expression all day

Dome team in the elements. Luck looked like he was throwing an anvil out there yesterday. If Reich deserves heat, I guess, it's for not planning on lousy weather and making his team practice in the cold.

The Colts looked like a team that just wanted to go home during the entire 2nd half.

Reich's not going to get any heat because they were 4-12 last year and he got them to 10-6 this year even though he had the advantage of having Luck all season. They also won a playoff game on the road and KC being a tough place to play will shield him from criticism.

The 46-year-old kicker and the Indianapolis Colts have agreed to a new deal, general manager Chris Ballard announced Friday. Terms of the deal were not available.

https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2019/01/25/colts-kicker-adam-vinatieri-set-return-his-24th-season/2677938002/

He’s back on a one-year deal, and 2019 will mark Vinatieri’s 14th season in Indianapolis after he spent the first decade of his career in New England. He went 23-for-27 on field goals in 2018 but missed three extra points, privately battling through an injury that lingered into the team’s divisional playoff loss in Kansas City. There, Vinatieri missed a 23-yard field goal and an extra point.

Does it make sense for the Colts to bring back Vinatieri to only do FGs and XPs? Their punter handles kickoffs duties. I’m surprised that they don’t try to find someone younger.

Probably not the right thread, but an underrated storyline in this season's triumphant return to championship glory is Kraft's move immediately after the Super Bowl loss against the Eagles to do whatever it took to get McDaniels to spurn the Colts and stay on as OC. Curran et al have written somewhat on the thaw in the frosty relationship between Belichick and Brady this year after the drama of a season ago with Guerrero, Jimmy G, etc. But with a little hindsight it isn't hard to read between the lines that Kraft ID'd McDaniels as the lynchpin to keeping Brady and Belichick together for at least another run or two.

Say what you will about Bob Kraft--and whether he is or isn't a good person--but he's an incredible owner and this was arguably his savviest move since trading for BB.
