No surprise. That teams sucks. Chris Ballard should be on notice next for that train wreck QB situation.

Reich seemed resigned and without answers in his postgame presser, so after last years collapse and the mishandling of the QB situation there is no reason to play out the string with him at the helm.

He’s a good coach and then is profoundly dumb, IMO. Colts have chased veteran QBs instead of developing one and that bit them this year. I can’t see how blowing it up really helps them, but they are fun to root against and see fail so go for it!

Quite the fall from where they were as recently as week 14 last year when they beat the Pats and seemed like a lock to make a playoff run.

Colts at Raiders next week. Josh could be next if the Colts were to win that.

I was wondering if Irsay might think the Colts have a chance to catch the Titans if he "lights a fire under the team," but looking at their schedules, I can't imagine he really thinks that.

Irsay will be paying Reich through the 2026 season.

This is a team that beat the Chiefs just a few weeks ago. The panic moves are terrible (Wentz, Ryan, Ehligner etc...)

The fact that Chris Ballard isn't taking the fall in Indy is ridiculous - he has been a dumpster fire.

It is. They went from Rivers to Wentz to Ryan. 3 washed up QB’s in a row.
This is completely inaccurate.

In 2020, Rivers led the team to 11-5 with a 68% completion, 24 TDs, 11 Int, 98 Rating and the playoffs. That's not washed up by any means.
In 2021, Wentz wasn't horrible but not great. 27-7 TD/Int, 94 rating. They crashed at the end of the year for sure by losing their last 2.
Ryan has not been good this year and may be done.

Any chance the Pats hire Reich as OC (but don’t give him the title) and let Patricia focus on the line?
I don’t think so. He’s never worked for the Pats, or with the QB, and you’re gonna throw him in there mid season as the OC/play caller? And why would Reich do it? I think that’s a bad idea, sorry. I can’t even think of precedent for it.

Fair enough. I don't think Breer was wrong at that time though. They had a solid roster and were simply a QB shy of being legit contenders.

Dom Capers maybe? He was the DC in Miami, not a HC, but the Pats brought him on as a "special assistant" for the 2008 season. It did seem weird at the time

They brought him in because he had been a HC previously and there was a fear in the Pats' organization that Goodell would go full weasel and suspend BB for part or all of the 2008 season.

Breer slicing like a hammer, as always.

Reich was always a poor coach. He punted away some ridiculously easy chance in OT in his first year, collapsed last year and they're garbage this year. Ballard stinks too but the coach is always the first to go.

Man that SB52 winning staff has certainly crashed and burned since then.
After Luck left, Reich really hitched his wagon to some QBs that seemed unlikely, even in real time, to be longterm solutions.
Rivers, Wentz, Foles, Ryan, Ehlinger

Wentz was by far the worst choice. Reich really thought he could bring back Wentz magic while ignoring that Wentz has never been the same since his initial injury.

The #Colts are naming Jeff Saturday as their interim coach, per source.

Breaking: Colts are naming their former six-time Pro-Bowl C and ESPN analyst Jeff Saturday as their interim head coach. Saturday has been a consultant for the team, is in its Ring Of Honor, and also was head coach for the Hebron Christian Academy football team in Dacula, Georgia.

You have both John Fox and Gus Bradley on staff and go this way? Seems strange.

Please tell me the Dacula, Georgia public High School sports teams nickname is the Vampires. Or at the very least, the Counts. And opposing fans chant "Dacula sucks!"

At 3-5-1, the Colts are currently in 19th place out of 32 teams. If they want a shot at a franchise-changing QB, they really need to lose the rest of their games and hope like hell that all or most of the 3-5, 3-6 and 2-6 teams sneak in a couple of wins each. Hiring Saturday is a nice first step toward tanking the rest of their games.
