Sunday probably would not be a good day for the Final, especially at 4PM as was suggested up thread. The final round of the Masters will be on then and as bad as ratings will be to begin with, they would even be worse then.

They probably should have pushed back the start times of these games back tonight to 6:15PM and 9:15PM ET. That way you get most of the country in on it. Have the BC/Union game at 6;15 as the East Coast audience cares more about that and it starts after most easterners are home, and have the UND/Minn game be the late game. It starts at 8:15 in the Midwest and 7:15 in the mountains.  Those of us on the West Coast will miss the first game no matter what as it would start at 3PM, but we could at least see the entire late game.

As for the final, Saturday night I guess is OK but I would have played it at 4PM ET so you get the max audience before everyone heads out on a Saturday night.  Just some thoughts....

They just showed an old psych prof in the stands. He goes by Ken. We couldn't call him anything but Ken. It was a neverending quest to be chill. I wanted to hate him for this but it turned out he actually was chill.

Per Barry Melrose, goalie masks are made by the military.  I don't know nearly as much about this as my goalie friends but this strikes me as wrong.

I havent seen BC get outplayed like this in a long time. And Demko's glove hand has been bad tonight.
One year ago Union dominated them in Providence.

Jesus...can't make it easy.

Another great win in what has been a phenomenal postseason for Union. Does anyone know where a guy can watch NCAA hockey at 3am in Madrid? I know, first world problems. Either way, as the board's only Dutchman (as far as I know), this has been fun. Program has come a long-ass way.

I'm a Dutchman by affiliation - my dad's an alum and was at the game today - and I grew up in Schenectady.  Feeling good for Union tonight.

Some of us just lurk ('94 grad). Union went D1 while I was there, and this is quite a bit more fun than ironically chanting "safety school" at Harvard because we were getting crushed.

Good for Union. Hopefully this ends the 'EZAC' era... Heck of an interesting game right now, too.

I hope so as well especially when you put 3 teams in the National Championship game in 2 years.

This has been a great game. North Dakota is on the PP with a minute left in regulation.

Also, I love Bucci's enthusiasm for the game of hockey and college hockey in particular, but man is he a brutal play-by-play guy.

Holy shit! A shorthanded buzzer beater for Minnesota!

They're going to have to look at this, but I think it's good.

Definitely counts.

Absolutely fucking amazing. One of the best non-OT hockey games I've ever seen. No scoring whatsoever until the final minutes of the 3rd, and they trade goals seconds apart. Then the Sioux go on a power play with a minute and change left. And the Gophers score shorthanded with a half-second remaining on the clock??? Holy effing shit.

The one negative about tonight's games was ESPN's doing. While I love the passion and interest Buccigross brings to the sport, he's just not cut out for play-by-play work when it comes to action this intense and action-packed. The cracking high-pitched voice on goals, the dramatic whisper on close calls and near-misses, the accelerated speech pace and swallowed words during breakaways, scoring threats, and goal crease flurries, etc. His call on the Minnesota game-winner was beyond weak. And he was just as awful during the regionals in Bridgeport. Studio work is a far better fit.

Anyway, I'll be pulling for the Dutchmen in the final. Nothing against the Gophers, but new blood is what's needed for this sport and Rick Bennett has been doing some incredible, magical shit in Schenectady. Consecutive titles by ECAC schools would also be pretty cool. Win or lose, having 3 of the last 4 finalists from that conference is already an amazing feat.
