Beat Pitt at home by 7. Barely held on at home in a "white out" game against a mediocre Michigan team. Beat Indiana at home by 7. Lost to Minnesota. They're only in this game because of Ohio State's turnovers and some coin flip/questionable officiating, and their starting quarterback may have just lost his job after a single drive. There's a huge drop-off after the top three, with maybe Georgia in a tier of their own... maybe Penn State fits in that next group of good but flawed interchangeable teams, but they've been far from impressive this year.
You could make these kind of statements about almost every team in college football almost every year.

edit: this also leaves out that the Big Ten is basically a mine field every year. PSU beat Iowa and Mich in back to back weeks...barely lost to a then undefeated Minnesota in Minn. Then came home the week after and didn't play well against Indiana but still won. They're now losing against OSU in OSU. They'll be 9-2..but you're saying they should be out of the top ten.. how about the top 25?

edit 2: also..where did you go to college (because I think that will possibly play into this)?

Michigan is not mediocre, and hasn’t been for a month. Ranked 12th or 13th. They might surprise the Buckeyes next Saturday.

That didn't look great but it also didn't look that bad, once you realize these athletes are made differently.

Fields falls on his own fumble and jams his foot into turf. Looks okay. He may be hurting going into next week.

Not really. They haven't beat a decent team this year by more than one possession. I never said they shouldn't have been ranked in the top 10... you go 9-1 in a P5 and you're going to get that ranking. They just haven't played like one if you look past the record.

WTF are they running play action? They know you're going to pass...use your RBs to block.

That was so anemic by PSU on their last bunch of drives. Never had a chance.

Solid with for tOSU, but they have some work to do, still.

In a conference as deep as this year’s BG1, close games are common, but your point is taken. OSU is only elite team in the conference.

The story of this offense is they only had two quality receivers. Their 5-star from NJ, Justin Shorter, has struggled. But he’s getting better.
The Nits might be pointing to next year. Their top three players will be gone after 2020.

OSU has beat two top 25 teams... this will be their third. They'll beat PSU by 11.
Georgia lost to South Carolina and has beat no ranked teams by more than a possession.
Oregon has played two ranked teams, one loss and one win by 4
Utah has played one ranked team and won by 18

Pitt are 7-3, Iowa 8-3, Michigan 8-2, Indiana 7-3.. and I was at that game...I think they're a good team and will be really good next year. Maybe PSU isn't that great, but Indiana has some good receivers, QB and an RB...I guess we'll see how easily Michigan handles them today. But if you think that's a weak schedule compared to others in the top ten..I don't think that's true.

Indiana has really improved but most people don’t know that yet. Maybe a win over Michigan would do it.

Michigan remains the standard for antiquated offense. Just punted on fourth and 32. Losing 22 yards in 3 plays is like a normal thing.

You really have to respect Alabama coming back this weekend and playing as well as they did, after the Tua injury last week. They are just a great football that plays a very hard schedule and earns really impressive victories.

Shades of ‘68. Yale down 14 with 4 minutes to go and ball inside their own 10. Score a TD with 90 seconds to go. Get the onside kick. Score with 18 seconds to tie it up. I would love to see what would have happened if they went to a 3rd OT. It was getting dark quickly.

I was surprised how good they were for being unranked. I hope it was clear that I think Indiana will be better next year.. I believe they have a young team (6 seniors and a ton of freshmen and sophomores) and had some talented pieces.

The other thing I’d say is KJ Hamler was hurt midway through the Indiana game and didn’t come back in.. penn state’s offense relies heavily on him and they struggled mightily trying to adjust not having him in there. It looked to me as though he was concussed and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were lingering effects today.

well hard to say TAMU is having a down year as they sit here at 7-3 with losses to Bama Auburn, and Clemson. Right now they are by far Bama's second best win, and Clemson's best win
They may lose their fourth game of the season today though...against Georgia.

Navy/SMU is wild. Navy rushed 6 on 2nd and 11 with SMU going 5 wide. Burnt for a 60 yard TD pass to make it 28-28 with 12 minutes to go.

SMU tried a surprise onside kick, but Navy recovers.

Word: great battle for the bottom rung of the Top 25.

Navy lines up to go for it on 4th and 1 from its own 30 up 35-28 with 1:05 to go. Hard count gets SMU to jump offsides. Ballgame.

17 consecutive wins on Senior Day for Navy. Last team to beat them? 2002 UConn.

Just got home after going out for pizza after this game. Greatest football game (and craziest) I've ever been to. Between the occupation of the field (we were wondering if Yale was going to have to forfeit at some point, even if there were probably more Harvard students involved), Harvard dealing blow after knockout blow over and over again, the amazing Yale rally, the game ending in near darkness, it was incredible. Completely unbelievable. I almost left in disgust at another Harvard blowout of Yale more than once. The Harvard tailback had 260 yards of rushing on TEN carries and scored four TDs of more than 40 yards apiece.

Fifteen minutes after the game ended, it was pitch black, and the Yawl Bowl has no lights.

It was eerily similar to the famous 29-29 game, except that Yale won, Harvard merely tied.

Can make the argument for being the best 5 loss team ever (well at least the team with the 5 best losses ever), next week. They will have lost to (with ranking at time)
#1 Clemson
#1 Alabama
#8 Auburn
#4 Georgia
#1 LSU

One of my simple pleasures- Mountain West football. For some reason a game like Nevada-Fresno St will always pull me in. I even will watch the midnight start Hawaii game.

A lot of Oregon fans making noise.

I would almost rather be down 4 than 3 in college to eliminate the temptation to try a field goal and just play 4 down football.
