ESPN says Fulmer in as new AD.

To paraphrase Steve Spurrier, you can’t spell dysfunction without UT.

Fulmer worked the back channels to get the AD job just like he worked the back channels to get the head coaching job from Johnny Majors. This guy seems like a scumbag.

Oregon has a press conference at 5pm ET. There's some Taggart---->FSU stuff swirling and he has the same agent as Jimbo
Just watched the livestream, Taggart says he's the Oregon coach, he's coaching practice, he's recruiting, "if you want to talk about rumors talk to who started them". maintaining plausible deniability

I have been told that Gus will have 5 hours after the SEC Championship game to make a decision on Arkansas. A plane will be in the air heading to get the next coach of the Razorbacks Saturday night.
Auburn to Arkansas is a step down, no?

Is he also planning on coaching again at Springdale, this time concurrently? There's no way someone can like Fayetteville THAT much.

Somewhat true, Bev nixed the Leach hire after the boosters told her to fire Currie. Davenport may still go too.

Current plan is to hire Les Miles with Tee Martin OC.

We'll see.

The Fisher to A&M deal is loltastic.
It is the most aggy thing ever. So in addition to Rumlin’s buyout they now owe Fisher $75 million no matter what. The athletics department is already deeply, deeply in debt and it is hard to see Fisher bringing a title to Collie Station. They just can’t get out of their own way. But whoop! They win the offseason again!

Fisher obviously lost the locker room in Tallahassee this season. I’d want to know why that happened before I committed $75 million to him.

But that aside, this strikes me as a move by a school that knows what it is. Aggie is in the nation’s top conference and has a solid recruiting base (in theory), but it’s not normally in a position to lure a marquee coach like Fisher. They had an unusual opportunity to do that, and they pulled out all the stops to make it happen.

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State University and Vice President of University Athletics Ray Anderson has unveiled plans for a restructured ASU football model and named former NFL head coach Herman Edwards as the 24th head coach of Sun Devil Football, pending approval by the Arizona Board of Regents.

The department's New Leadership Model will be similar to an NFL approach using a general manager structure. It's a collaborative approach to managing the ASU football program that includes sport and administrative divisions, which will operate as distinct, but collective units focused on elevating all aspects of Sun Devil Football. This structure will allow the department to form a multi-layered method to the talent evaluation and recruiting processes, increase its emphasis on both student-athlete and coach development and retention, and provide a boost in resource allocation and generation.

"Our goal for this football program is to reach unprecedented heights, and therefore we need to find a way to operate more innovatively and efficiently than we have in the past," Anderson said. "In the spirit of innovation, our vision for this program is to have a head coach who serves as a CEO and is the central leader with a collaborative staff around him that will elevate the performance of players and coaches on the field, in the classroom and in our community. Equally important, the head coach will be a dynamic and tireless recruiter."

Edwards, who will oversee the New Leadership Model, arrives in Tempe with a football legacy that has impacted thousands, whether as a player, coach, analyst, motivational speaker and author, or community advocate and philanthropist.

Amazing how quickly Oregon has gone from national title contender to "stepping stone to bigger things."
Could say the same for FSU lol

I think with Taggart being from Florida, one of the big 3 jobs was always going to be a lure, and I don't think he thought the FSU job would open a year after he took the Oregon job. More or less the same with Kiffin and Vols/USC a few years ago.

Oregon seems in a lurch, Kelly and Frost off the board. They need someone who can put points on the board. Sumlin? RichRod? Todd Graham?

They should just let Reveille coach. After all - what recruit would turn down her face?

Jeremy Pruitt, Alabama's DC is Tennessee's next head coach.

According to my booster buddy, Les Miles wanted too much money for too much time. Also too much control, which Phil Fulmer will not relinquish. Speaking of, Pruitt is not fully entitled to hire his own OC. Still looking at Tee Martin.

Oh boy, hiring the DC of a program led by a defensive-minded head coach ALWAYS works out!

I don't know if this has been discussed and I missed among all the coaching change chatter, but the NCAA has imposed additional sanctions on Ole Miss, including another season bowl ban. Rising seniors are allowed to transfer without sitting out, some underclassmen have requested waivers, and the administration is not handling it particularly well. Looks like QB Shea Patterson may transfer to Michigan.

Why wouldn't you just hire Tee Martin as HC and Pruitt as DC and Assistant HC?

Why would Pruitt leave Alabama DC for the same position at a lesser school if Tee Martin was the coach?
Tee Martin would be more likely to fail than Saban, plus it would be also as AHC. He's not going to get hired as Alabama HC.

The cradle of the game.
Last season my alma mater, The University of West Florida (Pensacola), fielded a football team for the first time in its history.

Incredibly, with a win today, they will play in the NCAA D2 National Championship game.

So... Go Argos!

The Stagg Bowl (D3 Championship) will be the Mount Union Purple Raiders vs. the Mary Hardin Baylor Crusaders on Friday, Dec. 15th. This will be Mount Union's 20th trip to the Stagg Bowl in the last 25 years with a record 12 D3 championships, but MHB is the defending champion, holds a 29-game winning streak, and has allowed 16 points in their 4 playoff games this year.

It looked like Mount Union would miss consecutive championship games during the 3rd quarter yesterday, as they trailed Wisconsin-Oshkosh 35-10, but they outscored Oshkosh 33-5 over the course of 16 minutes. Oshkosh came up short on a game-ending field goal attempt that would have sent it into overtime.

I graduated from Marietta College, which plays in the Ohio Athletic Conference with Mount Union, at a time when the Purple Raiders won three consecutive national titles and were at the start of a 109-2 streak. I used to hate them. Marietta's claim to fame in football is their 41-game losing streak in the '80s, but when I was student there a decade later they suddenly got pretty good. In 1995 Marietta nearly beat Mount Union on our home field 41-37, and prior to playing them the next year, our star running back Dante Brown set an all divisions record with 441 rushing yards against Baldwin-Wallace that stood for 17 years. So my two roommates (one of whom had been Dante's roommate) were jacked for the game in '96 and made the trip to Alliance. It was about 20°F and snowed, and even though they had a no re-entry policy, the guy at the gate took pity on us and let us go sit in our heated car during halftime. Oh, and we lost 61-16... I think most of our points came in the 4th quarter.

Anyway, as I've gotten older, I've mellowed and gained more of an appreciation for what Mount Union has accomplished and maintained. In 27 years as head coach, Larry Kehres led the Purple Raiders to a 332-24-3 record, before handing the reigns over to his son Vince, who played on that team I watched throttle Marietta, and is now a career 55-4. So I'll be rooting for Mount Union this Friday.

It is so, ridiculously dumb that the 2nd CFP game does not kick off until 8:45pm on Jan 1, maybe later. Based on how these games go that isn't ending until 1am and everyone has work / school the next day. Seriously, what the fuck? Why not have the first game kick off at 3pm and the second game at 6:30 or 7pm like the NFL does with the conference championship games? There is no way in hell I am staying up for that, as awesome as the matchup is.

Also, why is the west coast game the early game and the game in New Orleans the night game? Also super dumb.

While it might be a semifinal game it’s still the Rose Bowl the granddaddy of them all and they want the kickoff at 2 PM PST.

It was a brilliant idea, the game had almost no competition from a sporting standpoint and it was also a beautiful game to watch because of the snow.
Army-Navy was always alone on the first Saturday of December until conference championships started about 10-15 yrs ago. So, they eventually moved the game to the 2nd Saturday to recreate the focus on it.

The 26th game in West Florida’s program’s history will be the D2 National Championship tonight at 6pm on ESPN2.

West Florida was unranked in the final D2 Top 25 Poll, receiving 4 votes.

No words.

Good luck

I do think WF USF North Florida and UCF should have a tournament

Just so UCF can have the championship they deserve

But maybe WF would give them a run

Bizarre. They found no evidence to support the sexual harassment charges but decided to go in another direction and are honoring his separation clause of his contract.

Sounds like they were trying to find a reason to part ways and this may have been a convenient exit plan.
