I disagree with booth. Why does he need to survive the ground

I’m sure I’m going to get flamed for saying this but Ohio State played 6 games this year. Six. They have outplayed Clemson, so I give credit where it’s due, but I wish it had been an even match.

Question for Ohio State fans: what would you be saying if the roles were reversed? Clemson played 6 games coming in and Ohio State played 11?

I’d tip my hat and say Clemson played a hell of a game.

I’d also realize that we’re in the middle of a freaking unprecedented (for our lifetime anyways) global pandemic. And that no college team (as far as I can surmise) used the pandemic to shy away from playing any games and that after preparing all year, would rather sit idle for a week than play.

Hell, the B1G probably doesn’t even play this season unless the players didn’t speak up about wanting to play. Justin Fields was a huge voice in that movement.

However, I will concede that the B1G handled the pandemic worse than any of the conferences. No argument there.

Seems like a weird thing to say that they didn't deserve to be there after they just stomped Clemson.

I don’t care about either team, so I really have no dog in this fight. But I don’t think in this case it’s logically inconsistent to say both that Ohio State is better than Clemson, and that Ohio State didn’t deserve to be in the college football playoffs this year.

Based on their performance last night, and just who they are generally, they absolutely belonged there. If the idea is to get the 4 best teams, there’s really no serious argument against them. And I have no problem, for one, outlier year, with some accommodations being made for a global pandemic disrupting schedules. As much as it pains me to say it, the Cincinnati’s of the world have legitimate grievances about Notre Dame. Not, IMO, Ohio State.

Well there are two issues: (1) Who are the best teams, and (2) Which teams have earned a spot? Clearly Ohio State is among the best four teams. But also...it's highly questionable as to whether they earned the spot, having played just six games. Maybe it's not their fault (it's certainly not the PLAYERS' fault), but the Big Ten cancelled their season, and I have to believe they did so thinking they were on the leading edge of a nationwide curve. But when the SEC and ACC, etc., were playing and the Big Ten saw what they were losing (recruits and more importantly, $$$$$$$), they caved and restarted. Well...should a Big Ten team deserve to get in if that's how the Big Ten Conference handled it?

My only point is that there are two issues, and one can definitely hold that they are one of the best teams and yet didn't deserve to be in the playoffs, and it's not inconsistent to hold that position in this case.

In light of yesterday's results, this seems crazy to me.

So you take out the 2nd best team in the country, make ND #3 and then slide Texas A&M in there? So that results in a team that got thrashed yesterday going to the finals? So now all three games in the playoffs are blowouts?

I don't think you're understanding my point. I apologize if I'm not being clear.

Anthony Brown (BC transfer) in at QB for Oregon. Always had a soft spot for him tho not sure the numbers back up my support.

I think UNC had a good chance in this game tonight before three of their five best players opted out. Now they'll probably get rolled, giving the ACC an 0-6 record in bowls this year.

Carolina is going to be real good next year. Almost everyone playing will be back, including the entire o-line.
