The 718
Dominican Pedro Martinez is not an educated man. He is one of the most intelligent people in baseball, or anywhere else. Pedro Martinez could give (has given) PhD- level seminars in the intricacies of baseball that would leave a doofus like Cowherd bamboozled.

tl:dr Fuck Cowherd

It's not difficult to understand, folks.

exactly.  *He's* the one who specifically picked the DR. (which are NOT a third of MLB players, as he claimed).    There are plenty of baseball players who are stupid. HE picked this group.
I read his book. He's one of those guys who believes, like the title implies, that because he's "just speaking what's on his mind" that its Ok to say anything.

That's what passes for "racism" these days?

We're literally reaching the point that if a white person talks about someone that isn't white and anyone doesn't like what the white person said... the white person is racist.

If anything, what I took from that link is that Jose Bautista can't maintain comprehension beyond a few phrases and instead decides to bully and threaten a guy that says something he doesn't like.
Yea, it's so hard to be a white make these days.

It's not racist because Dominican is not a race. Words have, like, definitions and stuff. It's certainly offensive and was a stupid comment, but no, it's not racist. Skewer him as he deserves but choose a different word. Consult a dictionary if necessary.
That word is either "insensitive" or "ignorant." I also agree it is not racist in the sense he thinks Dominicans are "inferior" due to lack of academics. But people with any intelligence don't even address this topic in the way he did he should have known it was a dumb thing to say. Clearly his academic education didn't stop cowherd from being an idiot

It's not racist because "Dominican" is not a race it's a nationality, but to me he clearly believes Dominicans are intellectually inferior which is why he used them to make his point that baseball isn't hard since hey, those dummy Dominicans can learn it. Trying to justify it by talking about their education system just made him look stupid, formal education has nothing to do with a capacity to learn, he clearly thinks Dominicans aren't the brightest bulbs and he deserves to be rightfully skewered for that assertion.

Pedro continues to be a hall of famer, on and off the field. What a treasure.
Pedro made this schmuck seem like a small, bitter, irrelevant man and he did it effortlessly and with style.

He may have retired 5+ years ago, but he hasn't lost a thing off his fastball.

God bless Pedro and lock the thread.

Is that what Cowherd did? He talked about "someone?"

“@JimMiller: Deal for @ColinCowherd will be Fox network, FS1 & syndicated radio on Premiere. Again, $ from @espn were competitive. This was creative move”

Major League Baseball denounced your remarks. Did you talk to anyone from the league?
No, I'd love to reach out to Pedro Martinez. I had him on my show about three or four months before I left. There is a Rain Man quality to his baseball knowledge. He was an incredible guest.

So now Pedro is an idiot savant?  Cowherd seems to be incapable of calling someone of Dominican descent intelligent without qualification.  It's remarkable.

Fuck the heck does that mean?

Well, you see, Dominicans don't have the best record with education, so when one of them expresses any intelligence on any topic, clearly it's because they're a savant.

His show on Fox started today. He introduced a new hairdo that reminds me of Bobby Valentine's. His show has bumped Francesa to FS2.
