As some of you may have heard, K9 Patrol Officer Sean Gannon of the Yarmouth Police Dept was senselessly murdered on Thursday, April 12th. The Yankees thoughtfully sent along their condolences.

As much as I tell everyone that the Yankees represent everything that is evil, and my my father in law (who is not a sports man) enjoys telling me how successful they are. There are moments when they transcend and impress.

This is one of them. I tip my hat.

It does seem odd but we do know the Yanks always generously support the Jimmy Fund Radiothon, and I can attest that Yankee fans are among the most generous in baseball when it comes to supporting the 50 50 raffle at Fenway.

Maybe it's just because they're bad at math?

There is no denying that Yankee fans spend a lot of $, on everything.

Damn Yankees -- You Gotta Have Heart!

Even at their most hated, the Yankees were the subject of a hit Broadway musical.

A nice gesture, but is there a connection there? Seems a bit odd as there must surely be hundreds of LEO's who lose their life every year.
Yes, there are surely hundreds, but as Lose said, they routinely give generously to the Jimmy Fund. Also, the Sox and Yankees communities are joined closely, albeit in a rivalry.

How many LEOs are killed in the line of duty every year, just in MA?
Not sure how it works out per year, but there have been 372 total and 126 by gunfire. The Sox also honored Officer Gannon at Fenway on Friday night so that may have inspired the Yankees gesture as well.

Those NYY jerks also posted an anti-bullying video for a 10 year old
http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/23248389/new-york-yankees-players-manager-post-anti-bullying-message

I'm supposed to dislike these guys...why do they do this to my feelings

Seriously though, another classy move by the organization
I caught this too.

I have the exact same feeling.

Some of the "new Yankees" are quite likeable, but this video made me like Gardner and Boone. It's really confusing.

But seriously, a very nice gesture. And if you read into the story, the school district and the Principal of the school have done less than nothing to help. I won't go into details so as not to turn this into a V&N thread but kudos to the Yankees.

I thought the Pawtucket promotion was very funny, but this is kind of an amazing response and in keeping with this thread:

Conor Foley‏ @RailRidersTT

In response to @PawSox's promotion banning Tylers and Austins for the series against the RailRiders, the RailRiders announce they donate 26 percent of walkup ticket sales for their May 4th game vs. Pawtucket to @T1721Austin's testicular cancer research fundraising efforts.
