I think this was an accident. It looks like Dupuis was trying to chop the puck back in deep and missed and hit Kelly instead. It was a touch reckless but not on the level of the other incidents in the game.

Back skating today, 5 weeks give or take a day. So looks like he's about right on schedule for a week or so to be back. At which point there will be some interesting decisions to be made.

As much as I like Shawn Thornton, I think he's the odd man out here, or at least a rotation of Spooner and Thornton.

I don't think there's any benefit to benching Spooner. Putting him in the lineup gives them three scoring lines, one of which can double as a shut-down line, and the fourth line can skate a shift as a very good checking line if Paille shifts to the right wing.

Thornton is definitely the odd man out here IMO until the injury bug strikes again.

Is Caron subject to waivers if they want to move him to Providence?  He doesn't seem particularly useful given the team's current makeup.  Or given the teams makeup when the injury bug hit.  Or as an NHL regular.

Obnoxious follow-up question even before this one is answered: if they do lose him to waivers, are they compensated in any way?

assuming I put the values in right (111 games played, did play in 10-11) capgeek.com says:

Jordan Caron is not exempt from waivers.
The following chart shows the number of years (not including 2013-14) or games he had to play to lose his exemption and highlights in red the totals that equal or exceed them.
This result is based on the data you entered: Player appeared in one or more professional game after signing his first NHL contract in 2010-11; and player has appeared in 111 career NHL regular season and playoff games games. If this information was entered incorrectly, the calculator will generate an incorrect result.
