I think the exact opposite and this part of the article is exactly how a lot of us felt after last year
But the drop in power combined with the second-half collapse probably did in Davis. The Boston Red Sox also had a precipitous drop in power when Davis was their hitting coach until the end of 2017.

It seems like hitting coaches can see the world pass them by pretty quickly. Ron Jackson coached a Sox team that led the majors in runs, average, doubles, extra-base hits, total bases, on-base percentage and slugging percentage for two years in a row. A year later, they brought an analytics guy in as his assistant and a year after that he was canned.
