Syracuse lost their QB and isn't that good anyway. I guess they're good in the relative senseof being only the 6th worst ACC team UNC has on their schedule
It’s CFB, most teams have a new QB.

that being said, Syracuse o/u is 5.5 wins so maybe you are right.

I would bet on SU, but as a NY resident, cannot.

They play the bottom 5 predicted teams in the ACC, plus Charlotte (not the Panthers) plus Richmond plus UCF. plus Syracuse. That's 9 games where they should be favored in. Should lose to Clemson.

Duke and TCU are middling and winnable. TCU especially since it's the opener, at home, and should get crazy home field advantage with the BB hype plus BB having months to prepare.

That schedule is ass. Very likely to go 9-3 or 10-2.
UNC’s schedule is light but they also didn’t bring in the kind of high end talent that a lot of people expected.

I don’t think 9+ wins is “very likely”. It’s college ball, anything can happen, but I could see them stumbling too.

I don't particularly care one way or another. Just think this story is absurdly overblown. If I had to guess, I suspect they both have their eyes open, and are both getting what they want out of the relationship. And when people talk about him torching his legacy, I think it often times really means torching the illusions/fantasy they had about him as a person. He's going to the HOF regardless of how his tenure at UNC goes. Beyond that, why does anyone really give a shit about his love life?
It’s not his love life that’s the story. if it were just horny old Bill getting some strange it would be a non event.

it’s that the Jordon episodes seem to fly in the face of everything Bill the coach lived and breathed and embodied.

Tycoons and rock stars have always been running around with women young enough to be their granddaughters. But they still act like tycoons and rock stars. Bill is basically Jordon’s pull toy right now.

Yeah it all seems very weird how she's basically in charge of everything right now. Either Bill is allowing it because he's blinded by love, or he's lost his fastball and doesn't fully get whats happening. I just hope Bill was smart enough to get snipped and doesn't get Jordon pregnant as a 73-year-old. Probably not much to worry about there, though, as a guy who was obsessed with ball control throughout his football career, he definitely got a vasectomy.

I will always be immensely grateful for the unfathomably awesome 20+ year era that Bill presided over in New England. Always.

However, this is a glorious mess and I can't look away.

This was my first thought. The university obviously isn't happy with the whole circus. Bill can't be happy about this decision. Hand me the popcorn, please.
I too am 100% here for it.

As an aside, I disagree strongly with the comments in this thread that Bill is addled. The guy was all over TV the past year, and he was surprisingly dynamic and witty. He showed precisely zero signs of any diminishment. He was also with his current GF that entire time. I don't know what's going on with him, but it's a clear-minded choice on his part.

If Pablo Torre's reporting was wrong on this, he's going to look pretty bad. That said, this sounds a lot like the whole "is Alex Guerrero banned from the Patriots' facility or not" brouhaha where everyone had a different interpretation of/was lying about what was happening.

Dude's standing by his original reporting:

View: https://twitter.com/PabloTorre/status/1920868637121904858

P.S. UNC can now choose to describe or change its position on Jordon Hudson’s involvement however it wishes, following the publication of our episode. We requested comment and filed dozens of FOIA requests that were not satisfied. And we stand by the specific reporting in our episode, which came from the highest levels of the football program.

Hahhaha. This is definitely my respite from those threads.

This is truly some delicious irony. Now, Belichick is the one whose ass is chapped from someone being banned from facilities because shes detrimental to the team

Pablo Torre is a very reasonable guy. I believe his reporting completely.

Clearly this is UNC -- home of the "academics, schmacademics" college athletics experience -- covering their baby blue asses because they've embarrassed their $10 million head coach.

Pablo Torre has been on this story completely. His reporting has been aces here.

He was the first one to report that she was his de facto agent/publicist and that everything went through her
First one to report that she got Belichick to do the Dunkin Super Bowl commercial and then forced herself into the shot.
First one to report all of the Hard Knocks stuff.

All of these things have been proven true over time.

I 100% believe him over an official statement that reads more like a CYA notice than anything else

Another attempted takeover.

Dunkin’ Donuts’ star-studded Super Bowl commercial wasn’t the only ad featuring Bill Belichick that girlfriend Jordon Hudson allegedly tried to score a role in.

“What I am told by among the dozens of people that witnessed the shooting of this, is what happened that day on set was ‘highly unusual.’ Jordon Hudson, who was at the time a person they kind of heard about, but again this was last summer… had arrived on set and stated immediately pitching herself for a role that had not been discussed in this scripted seven-figure commercial shoot. That would also serve as ‘the hard launch ‘ of their relationship.”

Torre, who spoke with 11 people who have dealt directly with Hudson as part of Friday’s bombshell episode, then detailed how the former college cheerleader allegedly “left the set and came back sometime later and was wearing a yellow polka dot bikini and a sun hat.”

Torre went on to claim that Hudson’s plan was over before it started because the crew on set pretended to film her version but didn’t turn on the camera.

“The crew had to figure out what the f–k do you do now. So the premise of the ad, according to my sources was, Jordon Hudson by the pool, sunning herself in a lounge chair trying to get Bill’s attention, that kind of thing,” Torre said.

“… Taping for the actual commercial was done by then. So what they did was, they filmed something that one source told me, may have involved a camera that may not have even been on. … They had zero intention of using it.”

I'm generally a stick to the games kind of guy and avoid personal stories/innuendo/hot takes/"analysis" during the day. The only sports talk I can stand is PTI, which I've always enjoyed. But this whole story fascinates me, and I can't get enough.

I don't consume ANY sports media (aside from reading linked articles here) and it's awesome for my mental health.

I learn 1000000000x more from this place than I could on ESPN or whatever.

I always loved BB and thought there was way more to him than monotone robot, and he was everywhere last year and was good on some stuff but others he seemed to repeat stories we all have heard so many times before to where his co-hosts were basically finishing the story for him, good naturedly but still I remember him not seeming to be aware everyone knew the story he was telling. I don’t know im probably way off base but he didn’t seem all that sharp to me on a lot of the shows.

I listened to the most recent Pablo Torre Finds Out pod about this relationship.

some notes:
-Belichick was heavily insulated by the NFL and Berj Najarian and basically had no idea how to deal with the media when Najarian left.
-Belichick had weekly calls with his “inner circle”. The inner circle is Matt Patricia, Josh McDaniels and Mike Lombardi. Torre’s source described them as “yes men” and “doormats”. Once Hudson got invovled she was quickly able to grab power and “out alpha” them.
-Belichick was taken by Hudson and described her as “brilliant” and was calling production companies telling them that they needed to hire Hudson for a 6 figure salary.
-Torre and Torre’s sources describe Hudson as completely clueless about the media and how the media works. He relays a story about how BB and Hudson didn’t realize that he had a hot mic on at NFL Films. They were then caught, and heard by everyone, talking shit about basically everyone else involved in the shoot.
-One of Torre’s sources is a long time media person and this person described Hudson as “the worst person I’ve ever dealt with on earth, and I’ve dealt with actual sociopaths”. That’s a common theme with the other sources too
-Hudson shutting down the question about how they met. Torre had two possible theories. One isn’t really a theory, it’s that Hudson has been consciously lying about her age for a little bit. Belichick met her when she was 19 and they don’t want to highlight that. The other possibility is that Hudson wants to keep that “exclusive” because she wants to do a…..reality show with her and Bill.

I am missing some stuff but the general picture is that Hudson is a nightmare who wants attention and is on over her head

Generally I'm all over the foibles of the rich and famous but not this time. I'm convinced that his capacity is diminished and he's being taken advantage of.

That BB was protected by the Shield and by a circle of yes-men, and then found himself being taken advantage of... that really feels like what's happening here. It makes me sad. Maybe I'm a soft touch as I get older but I see a guy who was THE best in a demanding profession, who was a cerebral guy, who inspired devotion in a generation of men, having it all get diluted at the end of his life. And over what? Like he needs UNC football?

The polka dot bikini girl strikes again!

Great early season callback by the writers

There is exactly zero evidence that Bill Belichick is being taken advantage of.

There seems to be a lot of evidence that people who admire Bill Belichick (or at least admired who they thought he was) are appalled at what they are seeing and jumping to the conclusion that “he must be diminished!” because the man they thought he was wouldn’t act this way.

A powerful rich man dumping his wife/significant other after decades of a seemingly happy partnership and hooking up with a hot young woman is one of the oldest stories known to man. In fact, it’s so common that Belichick has now done it twice.

Well said. As I’ve followed this thread and posters have tried to get into Belichick’s head, it keeps boiling down to two words. Dat ass!

I think this is right. The only psychoanalysis I'll venture is that he treated players equally unsentimentally.

Yep. Again, the guy was all over TV during the past year. He was fine. He's fine.

On the Toucher & Hardy show last week they found a NY Post Page Six story from the mid-2000s. It detailed that when Bill was with the Giants (in the 90s) he bought a house for a admin there as she and her husband separated. The husband claimed they had an affair. I'm guessing that was the case since I don't imagine defensive coordinators often buy houses for team secretaries just to be nice.

I'm not into judging people. Bill can do whatever he wants in his personal life. But the idea that he's some mentally addled old man being taken advantage of by a gold digging hussy is really uncomfortably old school conclusion to come to (to put it mildly). He's a guy who's spent his life dumping his romantic partner for someone else *and* giving them some manner of financial support.

I used her, she used me, but neither one cared
We were gettin' our share

I think we have an abundance of evidence that Belichik and Kraft are cut from the same cloth, and that any depth to their character was simply never there. But we can enjoy watching the process as they become Rick Pitino.

He's going to show you the bricks. He'll show you they got straight sides. He'll show you how they got the right shape. He'll show them to you in a very special way, so that they appear to have everything a brick should have. But there's one thing he's not gonna show you. When you look at the bricks from the right angle, they're as thin as this playing card.

Gotta say, kind of surprised by the number of people on a Patriots centric board who seem to be enjoying BBs comeuppance or downfall or whatever some of you think it is. Unless you work in the media or something. As fans, all he (along with Brady and many other players and coaches of course)did was deliver 20 years of unprecedented success and championships. Not really getting the schadenfreude. And I say that as someone who thinks he’s probably an asshole in many ways.

For my part, I’m not enjoying this. It’s depressing to see someone who gave me so much joy over the last two decades of my life sort of melt down like this.

That said—and this might be what you’re picking up—I do think this whole ordeal sort of suggests that his judgment has gone off the rails and the team probably made the right decision to move on.
