Just lovely.  Chicago, Den, Bye, Indy and then Det and GB.

Hopefully back by Thanksgiving weekend.

Jets game was on October 16th, and the Colts game after the bye week is on November 16th, so it's conceivable this could only cost him three games.

Jones played the final defensive snap of the game, but there was this...

There's been some lining up of Easley at DL. He's been a real disappointment in the middle, clearly needs to bulk off if he's going to have an impact long-term. But in the short-term maybe he can hold an edge at the end and get some push?

Beyond that, hard to see Zach Moore making an impact any more than Michael Sam would.

Colts and Broncos without Jones? We're in BIG trouble.
Not that big of a loss against Denver, since nobody ever hits Manning anyway and he's a liability against the run.

Unless Easley can actually play DE the failure to add depth at that spot this offseason is kind of ridiculous.

Not really--it's incredibly hard to get good edge players in the NFL.

They extricate their heads from their asses, and now the injuries start to pile up.

Sigh. I'm trying to look on the bright side--at least Siliga and Jones's injuries aren't season-ending, and Stork and Connelly were back today (as were Ebner and Fleming, though who cares about them).

Injuries are just part of the random element in football, but boy do they suck.

Siliga is eligible to come after the next game, right? He'd be awfully helpful if he's ready to go.

The team’s most dominant pass rusher suffered a hip injury in Week 7 against the Jets, and the Patriots fear a worst-case scenario that could keep Jones out of the lineup for the rest of the regular season, according to a source. Best case, Jones will be out six weeks from the point of the injury, but they were not optimistic about the short end of the timetable upon the initial diagnosis.

If Jones could return after six weeks, it’s possible he could play as early as Week 13 against the Packers because the injury occurred on a Thursday night. But with the extent of the injury, those around Jones have already discussed the possibility that his regular season could be washed out, according to the source

Ugh. Going to hope Howe really does mean "regular season" and not "season."

I just read on rotoworld that Jones' season may be lost.  That would *suck*.  Just once I'd like to see the Patriots get through a season relatively unscathed in terms of injuries.  Just once.  If Jones is lost, that's three of their best players - Jones/Ridley/Mayo lost for the year.

I know this team is built to overcome the injuries that accumulate over the course of a season, but losing all this manpower really hurts come playoff time.

So frustrating.

No, I know.  My question is: what is wrong with his hip?  We have these scoops about timetables, but nothing about why.

I'm just whining, you guys.

This team gets devastated year after year. I know it's the NFL and injuries happen, but fuck. If it's the entire regular season, I suspect Bill will just IR him. I wasn't a huge fan of using DtR on Siliga, and this is why.

I can usually put forth a good estimation of what an injury is based on body part/timetable, but I'm kind of lost with this one. It almost sounds like some sort of fracture given the timeframe, but you can usually put a more definitive timeframe on those.

Part of me is worried that they know his season is over but they're not making any definitive moves until after the trade deadline to preserve whatever leverage they may have

If they want to hold Jones' spot, they certainly have options - Butler, Barker, Devey, etc.

Didn't he play a couple of snaps after the injury to close out the game? Would a hip fracture be too painful to remain on the field after the injury?

I've been really impressed with Ayer's ability to pressure the QB, is it more efficient to put Jones on the inside on some rushes (with Nink/Ayers pressuring on the ends?)

Oh, right, we're missing one of our best defensive players.  This is gonna be fun.

I've felt all along that Jones is gone for the year. Hip injuries are very tricky to pin down timing on. This is awesome news!

Hope Easleys injury is short term as well. Given Jones injury and skillset it would be a really nice luxury to play Jones as a situational player focused on pass rush.
