Navy will be dressed as astronauts. Army as tanks.

Navy started this season by losing to Delaware. Finished it by beating UCF.

Army lost 10-9 to Sun Belt champ Troy and 41-38 in OT to CUSA champ UTSA. Their best win is probably UConn.

Army lost 13-7 to Air Force in Arlington and was out-gained 324-145. Navy lost 13-10 in Colorado Springs and was out-gained 356-243. Mids also missed a 33 yard goal.

I expect something similar to last year. 20-13 Navy.

I'm just happy they are both playing for second place. Go Air Force.

Will likely catch some of the HC (best team in New England) and NDSU games, otherwise, soccer/footy quarters

Quite a turnaround for the HC program. Hope as an alum HC will get to keep Bob Chesney another season (more than one more is highly unlikely).

Having a bunch of 5th year players due to the Covid exception has helped considerably. The school usually only allows redshirting for injuries; plus HC is a college w/no grad schools, so no one's transferring in with a year of eligibility left.

SD State beat them pretty badly 2 years ago, and it will be a tough, tough game; but the 'Saders will show up.

Go Navy, beat Army. Didn’t know HC was having a year. Haven’t thought about them since seeing Gordie Lockbaum have a big game at UMASS, circa 1987 or so. But what the heck, go Crusaders.

I'll be following Wartburg at Mount Union if I'm home on Saturday. When I was at Marietta College a quarter-century ago, we were accustomed to getting destroyed by Mount Union every year… they did it to everyone, they were almost literally unbeatable for years. We had the best running back in D3 in my class, so my sophomore year we gave the Purple Raiders a scare when they came to Marietta and had a chance to win until the last few minutes. We were all pumped when the team was having a good season the next year, so my two roommates and I made the 2-hour road trip to Alliance hoping for something historic. It was 20°F and snowing and we froze our asses off on the steel bleachers while Mount Union beat us by 50+. At least the stadium personnel waived the reentry rules and allowed us to sit in the heated car during halftime.

For several years I rooted against Mount Union in the playoffs in the hopes someone would occasionally show them how it feels to lose. However, since they've had to share the top spot with Wisconsin-Whitewater and Mary Hardin-Baylor over the past 15 years, I appreciate more the incredible program they've had and I've come around to rooting for the OAC representatives come playoff time.

Another HC alum... just a ridiculously enjoyable run this season has been. Really the whole Chesney era. I'm sort of hopeful with Luth, etc that success (maybe not like THIS) is sustainable. Now, about fixing hoops....

Chesney's career/decision making will be fascinating to follow. For sure he's going to get opportunities, but his New England roots seemingly work against him. He's an obvious choice for BC when they give up on Hafley, but other than that, it's hard to envision where his next move is. Not to say he wouldn't succeed anywhere, I think he would... but his resume is a bit of a leap of faith for a lot of schools, and the intersection of what schools would take that leap, with what schools he would uproot his young family for, is probably a pretty narrow overlap.

All that said, when the time comes for him to leave HC, nothing to do but tip your cap and thank him for resuscitating the program.

Beat SDSU!

Somehow, Wisc-Whitewater lost in the first round this year; or you'd have the standard quartet of WW, MU, MHB and North Central in the Final Four.

astride the divide
Pray for William & Mary playing a December night game in Bozeman.
Yeah, the Tribe struggled, never got it going tonoght. It was cold, and loud, and after they traded a couple of punts it got out of hand quick. I felt good as a 20-year Montana transplant in my W&M hat though--lots of welcoming Cat fans all night, thanks for traveling, etc. Easy to be welcoming when you're up four scores I guess.

Last night, Sacramento State had 49 FIRST DOWNS and 738 yards of total offense.

They lost 66-63. I don't think I've ever seen 40+ first downs, let alone by a losing team.

Kicker was off (injured?) for the last several weeks. That, the cold weather and unreliable snaps all season would have had me going for it. But, can't complain, they gave it a hell of a run.

Mount Union won a wild one in the D3 Semis, 34-31. They led Wartburg for the first 3 quarters before they muffed a punt, setting up a short field for a Wartburg touchdown on what would be 4 consecutive lead changes. With the clock under 2 minutes and trailing 28-24, Mount Union's QB stepped up out of a collapsing pocket when Wartburg blitzed on 4th & 7 and found a receiver down the sideline for 37 yards. They punched it in from the 2 with 31 seconds left, but then shanked the extra-point to leave their lead at 3. However, Wartburg's QB missed on 4 straight passes to end it.

2019 D3 Champs Northern Illinois are currently leading defending champions Mary Hardin-Baylor 28-14 in the 3rd quarter of the other semifinal.
