Oregon’s options likely will be:
A) Host Iowa State/Arizona State then Boise
B) Bye then winner of Tennessee/Ohio State

Do you kinda punt the CCG? Not lose on purpose, but minda take it easy and rest guys. This will be a conversation going forward with CCGs until they fix this weird loophole thing.

I don’t think anybody is gonna try to avoid a bye, ever.

My 'Cuse back in the Top 25 for the first time since 2022, I believe. Looks like we're a football school again.

How do you figure? If the Committee follows the AP and nothing changes next week, the first round would be ND-B12 champ, Tennessee-Bama, tOSU-Boise, and SMU-Indiana. The best spot would be #1 facing the winner of SMU-Indiana, which is the 8-9 game. But even if that lined up differently there’s nobody in that field who’s enough of a pushover to forgo a bye.

I have the last flipped but not a huge difference scenario wise.

FWIW I play for the bye too.

Yeah, I forgot Boise is going to be the 3 or 4 seed, with the other bye likely going to the ACC champ. So my matchups are wrong.

Which 10?

Edit: Obviously Florida is one.
Damn straight. Went to both the Nati in Phoenix where the Gators humiliated the Suckeyes (best plane ride of my life) and the following CBB Nati where we beat up on Greg Oden and Company). We can't beat everyone, but we totally dominate tOSU!

Does this have any bearing or serve as tea leaves for the actual CofoPo rankings? Or does the Playoff Committee look at that, shrug, and then do whatever they please to make matchups and brackets to maximize viewership and $ regardless?

Mostly the latter, but I do think the AP poll anchors the conversation a bit -- there's only so much they can manipulate without making the process look completely illegitimate.

They lost a ton of legitimacy, with me anyway, last year when they kept FSU out. I despise FSU (wife and most friends are Gators) and I'm mad that they made me take the 'Noles' side on that.

Yeah, I think it's pretty obvious to anyone paying attention. Especially the longer we go and the wider variety of explanations they have to use to justify their decisions.

It’s hilarious Alabama will be in the playoffs with SCar and perhaps even SMU sit at home. Scar especially since their loss to LSU is a ginormous asterisk thanks to ref fuckups

How long before Miami, FSU, Clemson and others start jumping ship once they realize that not being in the SEC/B1G will keep being held against them by the committee every year?

Miami was in fine position even after one loss. But losing two out of your last three to end the season makes it tough for them.

If the title games hold to form, what would the old four-team playoff be?

Oregon vs Notre Dame and Texas vs SMU?
