A sad Saban is a glorious thing. Saban really is a cock, tho. He's got 78 guys on his team who are first round draft picks and 28 star recruits and he acts like everything is tilted against him. Dabo and Saban are just so easy to hate.

All other coaches, no problems. Dabo's holier than thou crap is so lame and Saban is just a world class jerk. Roll Tide.

Whoops, I meant roll Vol.

Here
Looked like the kicker started moving towards the ball before it was even snapped. The rhythm was way off, but it somehow had enough leg to juuust make it. It was literally helicoptoring sideways.

Herbie is all over the Clemson QB. He isn’t even wrong it’s just super critical

If he didn’t, I think 47 from Alabama blocks it. Such an odd play.

A lot going on here. I can’t hear the whistle on the broadcast version of the film which makes it hard to comment intelligently.
Short version: they were technically right but I would have tried to handle it differently. The relevant rules:

The ball always belongs to a team. A kicked ball belongs to the kicking team until it is recovered or dead by rule.

Holding by the defense is penalized from the previous spot unless it meets the following criteria (abridged)
Foul occurs during a kick that crosses the neutral zone
The ball belongs to the defense at the end of the play.

When the inadvertent whistle happens the ball is dead immediately. And when the ball became dead it belonged to the kicking team, so the second criteria above is not met. Replay can fix a lot of these situations if there is a reviewable aspect ( immediate recovery etc.)

I’d probably ignore the rule and treat the ball as if it had been possessed by the receiving team. Would be receiving team ball -10 yards, basically ignoring (or steamrolling) the IW. It’s happened quite a few times in some really high profile games and basically nobody has ever noticed, and I doubt they would here
Thanks for your input, figured the change of possession had to have some “permanence”

I was going to say that call against Florida was soft. But no, I have no idea what that guy was thinking. So stupid, 2 extra steps AND used his entire body weight to slam the QB into the ground. Especially because it was an INT. Game changing idiocy.

ND loses to 1-4 Stanford (who has also lost 11 straight FBS games) at home. Fire the coach. He's a total disaster.

USC got so fucked tonight. Those 2 ridiculous roughing the passers would have been an INT and a punt and instead gave Utah 14 points.
