Maybe a little, but I think it's much more that game-planning and practicing for a well-run triple option is just such a pain in the ass. Remember 2011 Alabama, who didn't allow more than 14 points in a game to any opponent except then-FCS Georgia Southern, who put up 21 points on 302 rushing yards? Even if you win, it's still a real headache.

I don't know why Vanderbilt doesn't run it.

12:30 CCSU at #24 Miami, ESPN3
I looked at this and wondered how the hell Miami was still ranked...and then I noticed UCLA is also listed as #24. (Miami didn't actually get a single vote in this week's poll, FWIW.)

Not exactly the most scintillating week of games, but I am looking forward to Aggie vs. Piggy. (Did I do that right?) Also, I'm intrigued by that Wisconsin -6 line vs. Notre Dame.

aggy vs pig, but piggy works too. If it were in Fayettville I might think pig wins but it's in Arlington and they can't beat aggy soooo yeah, womp womp.

My fear on Wisconsin is the lack of offense.

There’s nothing on the slate that would cause me to rearrange my schedule, but good to know there will be a decent game on in each of the three windows on Saturday.

I like Michigan State to cover 5 at home against Nebraska.

I'm one of the few ND fans around here, I think. Wisconsin feels like a big litmus test/sign for how the rest of the season will go. They've been pretty unimpressive so far, particularly on the O-line. Though I thought there was progress in the second half against Purdue, in terms of finally getting some push in the running game. Defense has still been spotty, but situationally effective, since getting torched by FSU. But Wisconsin is a big step up in talent from obviously Toledo, and from Purdue. Though technically a home game for the badgers, I'm sure Soldier Field will have a large number of ND supporters in the house. I'm excited for this one. Agree rest of the slate doesn't jump right out, but some interesting match-ups. And as with every week, no doubt there will be some wild, very entertaining games. WVU and Oklahoma intrigues me.

This week’s game with Wisconsin, and next week’s with Cincinnati, will make or break the Irish’s season. Win both, and an undefeated season is possible — not likely, as every game besides Navy figures to be competitive, but possible. Lose both, however, and the Irish will be out of the NY6 discussion.

I'd even live with a split of the next two. Running the table after that, and finishing with 1 loss, should keep them in the NY6 mix, and if a few other things broke right, maybe even the playoff. UNC, Stanford, and VA Tech scare me the most after Cincinnati, but even USC, despite their turmoil, and ND's recent run of success against them, could also be tricky.

I think 11-1 with wins over Wiscy and Cincinnati will be enough, so long as Clemson drops another one somewhere along the way. I’m less sure about 11-1 with only one resumé win. Plus, I think if they aren’t good enough to win both, they’ll probably drop another one at some point.

Wisconsin is a so-called "Shamrock Series" game. But it is a Wisconsin home game, you are correct. This game and the one in 2025 or 2026 (that was supposed to be at Lambeau in 2020) call for equal ticket distribution.

I don't think 11-1 with razor-thin margins of victory against schools like Toledo and Florida State is going to cut the mustard this year, unless Notre Dame somehow comes to look WAY better by December than it currently does. NY6 bowl? Sure. Playoff? No way.

Very weak prime time slate

looking forward to a few noon games and Piggy Aggy. That’s pretty much it.

Was out all day with some family stuff and see Texas has put up 70 to start the 4th. I should not watch the rest of the year apparently.

Minnesota lost at home to Bowling Green. Hard to believe they hung with OSU a few weeks ago.

Minnesota lost at home to Bowling Green. The boat might have a leak.

And Texas played an entire conference game without punting. 10 TDs, 1 INT, 1 knee down

It's been a while since anything good has happened at Alumni Field and add in the Covid factor for the need to be happy about something.

The central Michigan defensive coordinator is just leaving his guys on an island in a prevent situation. I don’t get it.

No kidding, that’s the first big win in how long? Sometimes it’s ok to, like, be happy, even if you didn’t beat Georgia or something.
