Uniforms:

I imagine it will be tough sledding for the Midshipmen. The defense has been pretty good this year, and I expect they'll be able to keep Army more or less under control. The offense has been very not good since they missed all that practice time during lockdown (slash Malcolm Perry graduated), and although they've shown signs of life, the option teams generally play each other very tough. Something like 13-3 Army is my feel. But maybe the football gods are still seething over the botched goatnapping of Bill.

Go Navy, Beat Army

Army has 85 pass attempts on the season; Navy has 91. First and second fewest attempts the nation. Navy would kill for a 67% completion percentage though.

My office is covered with stupid tape lines and pieces of paper taped on the floor with various exercises to complete if you step in the taped area (push-ups, burpees, pull-ups, planks, etc). It’s some type of stupid encouragement to get my pumped up for Army to beat Navy. I went to University of Illinois for undergrad. I don’t give a shit about this game and I don’t need to drop and do push-ups or planks when I walk around the office. At this point, I’m rooting for Navy because whoever put this shit on the floor needs a bad day (plus, my grandfather went to the Annapolis).

Apparently the fake punt was a garbled protection check.

Senior Diego Fagot, an all-American Athletic Conference inside linebacker and the Midshipmen’s best all-around player, is an up blocker on the Navy punt team, positioned to the left side of the formation and just behind the blocking wall. One of Fagot’s jobs is to scan the alignment and call the blocking protection scheme.

“That’s basically an overload, so we checked the protection,” he explained. “When I checked it, I guess the snapper didn’t hear me correctly.”

Freshman long snapper Ethan Nguyen admitted after the 17-13 win that he could not hear Fagot as the roar of 82,282 fans drowned out the sound of the field. Navy’s coaching staff had installed a fake punt play into the game plan, so Nguyen simply assumed that was what Fagot was calling for.

“It got really loud and I couldn’t hear. I saw [Fagot’s] mouth moving, and only knew one other check to do, so I snapped it to him,” Nguyen explained later.
