Tough crowd when the guy plays like he did, made a great play at the end for a dunk but the other guy made an all-time great defensive play, and suddenly Tatum isn't ready to be the guy.
For this game, yes. He played like shit down the stretch. He was great before. I have little doubt he will learn from it.

Kemba shot 32 percent and had 3 turnovers. That’s.. Celtics can’t win it he keeps doing that.

Yet another game where Kemba was terrible on both ends. This has become the norm. If he doesn't turn it around, the Celtics don't have a legit chance to advance.

We should have a game goat thread for this one. Players and coaches both need to share some blame. This series will tell us if the team as constituted will ever be ready to be a true contender; fortunately, the Celtics will get another shot in Game 2.
I heartily disagree - players and teams aren’t static year to year even if the personnel stays largely the same. Miami is playing some of the best basketball in the bubble.

Didn’t deserve to win it. Miami took it from them.

Young team — lacks killer instinct. This will be a long series. That was a bad loss.
Let's hope it's a long series. I'm guessing most of the games will be close. Butler and Dragic excel in those situations.

No it won't. They're already ahead of schedule win or lose this series.

Bam doesn't make that all-time great defensive play and everyone's talking about how Tatum is just an elite, elite player who won the game for them. But Bam made the great play and suddenly Tatum isn't real for the big-time.

He didn't make that play. He was 0 for his last 7. He didn't close the game well.

The contrast between the play Miami ran for Butler versus Tatum and Kemba showing off their dribbling skills as the clock ran down is infuriating.
That's why it's nice to have Butler on your team. He's so physically strong, he can get where he wants on the court.

Two excellent teams. It is a seven game series. Kemba is a legit concern, though. He looked desperate out there.

Kemba made so many uncompetitive plays on both ends. Hit a couple big shots but gave back a fuckload on defense.

The team defense was like 3/4 good on most possessions but then they would double someone off the ball or with his back to the basket and leave literally the best shooters wide open. The doubling obsession is baffling, especially in those positions.

Up 5 late, up 4 in OT, up even bigger earlier. They wilted. Not worried about the series but tough to drop this one after leading so much and late. Same issues as the Toronto losses, just careless basketball and indifferent offense and defense when it counted. Hard to believe Stevens could watch this game and let Kemba dribble to nowhere so many times. They really had no business losing this in regulation.

Need better communication, better movement, and less anti-Theis officiating. The anti-Theis agenda is real.

The difference was player movement.
Tatum had a wide-open lane to the basket, seems like the spacing was fine.

If Bam slightly misses his block he just gave the game away. Honestly, by the numbers, the contest of the block was stupid and could have given the game away. He just made an all-time great play so people are lauding it.

Is Kema still hurt? Hayward coming back is going to cause some issues with the offense as it readjust (and as he does). This was a must win. Not a good start. Tired of losing big games to this team and all its frontrunner fans.

Have to figure out a way to play better without DT on the floor. We got wrecked when he was out.

The Heat off ball movement and success in the paint requires an adjustment for game two. That and not Kemba - whose knee is a likely culprit behind his tough game and fueled Miami's efforts to take him away - is what the Celtics need to fix.

Did Tatum not get to where he wanted to on the court? What? He had a clear lane for a dunk, Butler got burned badly.

Where Brad loses me as a coach a bit is that he thinks it’s better to let good players take bad shots or make bad plays because over the long haul it will balance out and leave the team on the right side of things. But it lost them the game tonight.

I’m all in on Enes Kanter being the bench center this series. He doesn’t need to chase Adebayo on the perimeter and he would be a monster on the boards and in the paint.

Kemba was several steps slow on D for much of the night, his play is absolutely part of the adjustment that needs to be made.

It would really annoy me if I'm Jaylen Brown and know that I'm not touching the ball in the last three minutes of the game. Not even like the last possession, but minutes at a time.

3 trips to the east finals in 4 years. It’s time to break through. Have a good feeling they will respond in game 2.
