Tatum not ready to be the guy tonight.
Tatum had 30 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. He made a great drive to the basket to win the game and the Heat guy made what will no doubt end up being the greatest play of the dude's career.

Man reading this thread you'd think the Celtics just lost too the high school JV team. The Heat are an excellent team, and a match for the Celts. We should expect every game in this series to be as tight as this one. Buckle up.
They were up 14 in the 4th. If you're not going to get this game, how are you planning on winning this series exactly?

Marcus was wide open for three on that last drive by Tatum.

Just saying.

I just don’t understand that offense in the last few minutes of the fourth.

The contrast between the play Miami ran for Butler versus Tatum and Kemba showing off their dribbling skills as the clock ran down is infuriating.

Played a great first 3.5 quarters, disappeared down the stretch and in OT

Tough life being a 22 year old superstar

You go 30/14/5 while playing great D and it’s somehow your fault when the team loses

If Hayward wasn’t out and Kemba wasn’t completely fucked it’s an easy win. Regardless, the execution down the stretch has been so god awful and Brad needs to fix that. Kemba pounding the ball into the court possession after possession late was unconscionable.

Tatum, Smart, Theis played pretty well overall. Wanamaker played really well. Brown needs to get more touches but he had some huge plays. This loss is entirely on Kyr.. I mean Kemba.

By winning the game the Heat is to 14 in the 4th? It's a tough one to lose but this is what the Heat do. You gotta tip your cap and hope a few guys bring a better game next time like JB and Kemba.

The Butler play was what? Have him drive and get stuffed get a lucky whistle and make a crazy shoot? Tatums play was much better and should have worked.

Tough crowd when the guy plays like he did, made a great play at the end for a dunk but the other guy made an all-time great defensive play, and suddenly Tatum isn't ready to be the guy.

Up 5 with 1:09 to go. Needed Smart craftiness to get it to OT. Just completely inexcusable execution down the stretch in regulation.

I kinda wanted Smart for 3 on the final play but didn't say it out loud. But I mean once Tatum blew towards the basket I'm thinking he could almost win it with an And 1. Can't criticize the attempt, but he needs to know Bam is going to take him on big time.

We should have a game goat thread for this one. Players and coaches both need to share some blame. This series will tell us if the team as constituted will ever be ready to be a true contender; fortunately, the Celtics will get another shot in Game 2.
