I was never super high on Al to Philly, but watching them run their offense I now have no fucking idea why they signed him. This is a front office that doesn’t understand its roster enough to pass on a guy just because he is available and because other guys spurned you.
On the other hand it kept Horford from signing with LA LeBroniers.

Embiid with 90 points in three games. Philly minus 45 for the series with Embiid on the court, plus 2 when he sits. That’s insane

From the game thread:

NBA on TNT is gonna have an ISO camera on Tatum for the entire 2nd half on their twitter feed

I went in and watched a bit of this "NBA on TNT / NBA Twitter Live" stream after the fact to re-watch some key plays, and the commentary team there captivated me. They actually discussed tactics and coaching and weren't afraid to criticize someone, as opposed to the Panglossian banalities of SVG / Dedes. The three folks on the sidebar there know their ball.

Edit: It's Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye, with host Taylor Rooks. IT4's rant at the end about how "the difference in this game was coaching" was pretty funny.

Hoping I can find the equivalent of this feed on Sunday and going forward.

That was one of the best wins of the year in terms of gutting out a rock fight. They were losing those types of games (really close down the stretch, have to execute when everyone is locked in) even when playing well.

You definitely have to post this in the game thread on Sunday. I get that TNT/ESPN wants these series to go longer than 4 games, but SVG was openly rooting for the 76ers.

It's refreshing to have a veteran star (Kemba) that is secure enough with himself to let the young stars (JT/JB) have the stage all season, develop and flourish. BUT is always there to right the ship when needed.

They mentioned this at the beginning of the TV broadcast but I didn't watch.

Just watched the last 2 minutes of the Twitter feed. They had some interesting comments but they also talk over each other a lot. They spent most of the last 2 minutes criticizing Brett Brown. But one thing the Channing Frye said that I thought was true is that JT looked tired.

Makes sense that the poor shooting for both teams (other than Kemba :) ) had to do with tired legs. It will be interesting to see what that means for G4, with an ever shorter turnaround time.

That was pretty good. A lot of talk that Brett Brown will be gone soon. I don’t know whether he is a good coach or not but I also don’t know that any coach can make it work with the current roster construction in Philadelphia. They’ve screwed themselves with bad contracts and undoing that is no easy task particularly if NBA revenues are declining and the salary cap declines as well. I have a hard time believing that a coaching change will jump start the 76ers and improve their chances in the Eastern Conference.

One thing should be clear: Elton Brand is not up to the task of setting a veteran nba roster. Maybe he could be a good gm in some other situation (though no evidence of it) but he’s a complete failure with this group.

Yeah, go home, be with family, rehab at team center and if it works out, he should come back in a good frame of mind.

I can imagine he’s incredibly frustrated at this point, so good to get the mind on other things.

Embiid averaged 30 PPG for the series and was minus 53. Tatum averages 26.7 PPG and was plus 58 for the series . Embiid averaged an assist every 28 minutes. And a TO every 5.5 minutes
