Ex-HRB binky PJ Dozier has signed a two-way deal with the Celtics.

Loved this kid coming out of South Carolina as a tall-2 value play who had some filling out to do (6-6, 195) and needing to develop a 3-point shot. Played 2 years of college, improved his 3-point shooting from 21% as a FR (1.4 attempts/g), to 30% as a SO (on 3.9 att/g)…...to 34% (on 3.7 att/g) in the G-League last year. Dozier has always been a great rebounder for his position and is versatile enough to handle many PG responsibilities with the size, plus athleticism, and 6-11 wingspan. He can do a lot of things on the floor which fits in perfectly with our system.

Dozier is a good defender too. Was he simply a luxury tax casualty in OKC, or were there other issues? OKC just signed pg Deonte Burton (who is three years older than Dozier) to a 2-way, but I do not think they have filled the second slot.

2-way contracts are new with the current CBA. There are two roster slots. 2-way players may spend up to 45 days with the parent team, but play the rest of the time in the developmental league. Salaries are prorated based on how many "NBA days" vs "D-League days" are attributed to the player, but I don't know if there are limits on how often a two-way player can practice with the parent club.

So no one has mentioned yet that he is Reggie Lewis' second cousin, and was allowed to wear #35 in OKC (formerly Durant's number) because of that fact? I expect that he will want that number in Portland and Boston.
