Amongst the fans the mood is largely frustration, disappointment and anger that despite recent CL windfalls and profit in the transfer market we are being sold short by lacking of meaningful investment back on the playing side.

Yes we all appreciate the perils of spending money you dont have but that does not mean we have to go to the other extreme and try and run a club of the size and stature of Celtic by acquiring loan signings and projects.

Lawwell and Co. know that they dont need to attract quality players to win the SPL at present and seem content to field a team that will be good enough to edge ahead of Aberdeen, Dundee Utd. To the majority of fans this is unacceptable - we need to have a team that is strong enough to at least be competitive on a European stage.

Personally I feel the Sevco thing has let this board off the hook. We are light years ahead of them in terms of finance and will remain so for quite a few years to come. However Lawwell keeps pointing across the Clyde and justifying his penny pinching ways and many fans fall for that rhetoric.

I'm a season ticket holder and my ST is reasonable value IF we were fielding a team containing the likes of Moravcik, Petrov, Larsson, Sutton, McGeady, Hartson, Hooper, Mjallby, Thompson, Wanyama etc etc - but certainly not for watching Johansen, Stokes, Mulgrew, Ambrose, Pukki, Berget, Boerrigter, Zaluska etc etc.

I am constantly bombarded by emails from the marketing department - looking to empty my wallet into Celtic's coffers - 2 new jerseys this year @ £55 each ($92), Buy a brick, Corporate tickets etc etc etc - yet I look at the return on the pitch - Balls to that they will get my ST money and not a thin dime more.

Yes playing in Scotland is a big obstacle but guess what it is where we have always played and will continue to play - stop using it as a justification for short changing the fans.

I am well pissed off right now. This current Celtic squad is perhaps the poorest group of players since the Macari days and year on year the quality gets further diluted. I dont want to see 3 or 4 £6m signings - I know that is not sustainable but FFS come on 3 or 4 £2m - £3m players should not be beyond us. I am also well pissed off with the money we have wasted with our scatter gun approach to player signing - duds like Boerrigter, Balde, Pukki, Bangura, Miku, Lassad, Rogne etc - then hear that there is no money to acquire quality.

Cod Piece - your views on Celtic are pretty much a mirror image of mine tbh.

I took the day off due to the referendum, not sure why....watched the game on FS2.

Salzburg remind me of the team I want Celtic to be ( realistically) , pace and power, passing quickly on the deck. Unfortunately, Celtic simply don't have the players for that type of game, domestically I'm sure they will look good. They failed to keep possession, they can't keep the ball on the deck, I lost count of how many times there were mutiple thigh high balls being pinged around only to find a Salzberg player. That is not good football.

I'm a bit confused by Deila, a blind man and his dog could see that Celtic needed an extra midfielder. Also, he seems to talk about a style of play, thus far,  I've not really seen any style or pattern emerge. If they don't qualify from this group stage this season will feel longer than a year in Barlinnie.

On the plus side, they scored twice, they managed to get a point yet played poorly. I thought Wakaso had a promising debut, showed real pace, but I don't see his acting going down well with the natives. Gordon had a good game, some excellent saves.

Negatives: Johansen has been invisible for most of this season. Denayer is not a natural center back, I think he is too small. Seldom wins headers and physically gets abused by bigger players. He is good with his feet but...to me not a center back. He's no Paul Elliot that's for sure. Ahh screw it, I could go on.

So...I guess it will be a no vote...crap.

The League Cup game vs. Rangers on Feb 1st will be on Fox Sports 1 in the States.

An Old Firm match (the first since 2012) and the Pats in the Super Bowl on the same day. I may have to consult Dr. Bruce Banner for behavioral modification techniques.

I have mixed feelings about this. Sevco will probably be slaughtered, I've seen them a couple of times on Soccer Plus ( may as well try and get my monies worth each month) and they are shit, no other way to put it. I genuinely feel there is going to be trouble both on and off the park . I'm convinced there will be riots in the streets, at this point I don't think their fans feel they have anything to lose. Poison is too nice a word to descrbe the atmosphere. I hope I am wrong but I just have a bad vibe. Perhaps our resident Glaswegians can chime in.

I have some SB tickets coming my way via FedEx and it looks like a fellow SOSH member travelling for the SB will be staying at the house. I've yet to mention the fact that I may be yelling at the TV at 5am in the living room. I'm not sure what he will make of it. If you are reading this.....sorry I never mentioned the game. Although in fairness, I had forgotten,  so blame Rip for reminding me. It's going to be a hell of a long day, so perhaps I may make myself not get up to watch the game. Although I think I'll be pretty psyched and may not sleep because of the SB.

Meh.

Two general comments:
1) Celtic will struggle with this squad to make it into the group stages of the CL later this summer
2) Sevco are not getting promoted, they are crap

The game itself, the pitch was a disaster. Horrible, not surprising given a game was played on it 24 hours earlier. Celtic never got out of second gear, they didn't have to. Sevco never had a shot on goal, well, if they did...I can't remember. I don't often blame a pitch but if that had been a decent playing surface Celtic would have scored a lot more. It was 2: 0 but going on 6.

The ref was a disgrace. Some bizarre decisions. Onto Dundee UTD in the final. Celtic will have have to pick it up a notch if they want to win the first of 3 trophies.

Car picking us up in about an hour to head over to Glendale. The Pats won't have it as easy...............

Totally missed this game...i keep forgetting I'm not on UK time ATM. But since i recently moved house, I live 600 yards from Ibrox, i went to watch Ger v Hearts, the match got abandoned after 24 minutes and Gers fot the TV money and the Pie and bovril money (the fans were not happy about this and pies were mentioned)...anyway two things: One, Gers fans are really really angry, really unhappy...and sitting amongst them was not pleasant, the atmosphere was nasty. Hearts had 2000 fans who were in fine voice, the Gers fans...i felt their pain, but i also felt there could have been a riot...Even My mate who is a total innocent when it comes to sniffing out violence said he felt uncomfortable in th ground.

Second: Rangers were terrible. God Bless Kenny Miller but seeing him on the pitch (v hearts) wondering if he might be their best player but having no way of knowing since every man jack of them was terrible.  I think Opta refused to release the stats for Rangers that game, to spare the blushes of all conerned parties of a gers Persuasion. We paid 28 quid to see Rangers and I felt (even though the game was cancelled) that had i watched a full match, it was way overpriced for what i got to see. Oh yeah, forgot to mention. There was a thin layr of snow on the pitch prior to the game, Rangers could have pushed the snow off the pitch...they did the six yard box and the lines. As the match went on the snow melted under the lights...as alluded to earlier it was a money grab and an insult to the fans.

I felt for the fans. They're not all idiots, i spoke to a few of them after the game, they were nice to us when we said we were neutrals and just wanted to see a decent game.

I am 100% sure that Scottish football needs a healty Rangers or no Celtic. No one likes to laugh at people in wheelchairs...not all day every day for ever.

Celtic V Inter Milan tomorrow. It should be on ESPN 3 for  those of us stateside. I'm not expecting much, if I'm the coach of any team playing Celtic you attack the fullbacks. Izzy and Matthews are the major weakness. Celtic signed Stuart Armstrong and Gary MacKay-Steven. Whilst I think it's a shame that smaller clubs are forced to sell their better players I'm glad,  at least in these two cases, Scottish talent is staying in Scotland. I really like these two signings. I'm still really pissed off about the lack of signings prior to the CLQ stages, a complete lack of ambition but I'll have to get over it.

Johansen has been a relevation since RD started playing him in a more attacking role rather than sitting in front of the back 4. He should be player of the year.

Fletch, that was the same match some Rangers fans "stormed" the offices. I think two elderly employees were injured. Yeah, they are an angry bunch.

I saw this video the other day, it's by a German company who did a documentary about the "Old Firm" during the 70's . Make what you will of it....
