deep inside Guido territory
stations have been ticketed for divestiture by ENTERCOM and CBS RADIO to satisfy ownership cap concerns arising from their merger.

A source tells ALL ACCESS that CBS will sell or swap 11 stations, including:

  • Top 40 KMVQ (99.7 NOW)/SAN FRANCISCO
  • News WBZ-A and Sports WBZ-F (98.5 THE SPORTS HUB)/BOSTON
  • Sports KFNQ-A (AM 1090 THE FAN), Adult Hits KJAQ (96.5 JACK FM), and Classic Rock KZOK-F/SEATTLE
  • Sports KHTK-A, Country KNCI (NEW COUNTRY 105.1), AC KYMX (MIX 96), and Top 40 KZZO (NOW 100.5)/SACRAMENTO

Danny Snyder has at least one idea worth stealing.

Do it, Bawb and Jon-a-than. Then put an end to some of the nonsense.

Why would they want to sell the Sports Hub and not WEEI? More money?
WBZ has much more wattage. BTW, it was almost impossible to pull in WEEI in my car this afternoon on the South Shore. Maybe they're using a backup antenna or something.

Entercom already has a network of stations simulcasting WEEI. It would be much easier for them to divest the Sports Hub which is only on one frequency. What interests me is if they'll sell the Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins rights too.

WEEI-FM is licensed to Lawrence and its transmitter is on the North Shore.

Right, but it was especially bad reception today. Solar EMF interference?

Also, I would not be surprised if the teams' broadcast rights cannot just be sold off by Entercom. If the teams' lawyers are doing their jobs, the teams would have at least some say on who can hold the broadcast rights in any transfer.

Didn't know they had an AM station. I tried to pull in the Worcester FM one, but no dice.
It used to be 850AM and I think they have a couple other frequencies on that side too. Maybe 980 or even 580 and I think 1280, though that's a Fitchburg-based signal and not likely to travel well that far south.

WEEI can be weird at times with reception. I get terrible reception in Portsmouth, but if I go north or south it comes in fine. The Hub I can’t get anywhere near me, hopefully this improves that.

This is a great thing. I wanted 98.5 no where near Entercom considering what the current state of WEEI is. Best of all, no more CBS Sports Minute with Amy Lawrence!

T&R just said nothing is going to change and all the sports teams rights are going with the station. Everything is under contract with the station so it's a package deal.

chad finn tweeted that this is all still in flux and nothing's completely set yet.
the sports hub isn't going anywhere, if anything it just means another radio conglomerate becomes their owner, hence they return to being actual competition against weei/ entercom

Correct, it's still pending but it will likely happen. It's interesting Entercom chose WEEI and the Red Sox vs going with TSH and the Celts, Bruins and Pats. It may be because it's easier for them to sell to the FTC to just keep WEEI vs trying to shuffle the sale of WEEI and keeping TSH.

Based upon what Fred said this morning they were pretty happy that Entercom isn't going to own them, so maybe Entercom saw if they bought TSH they'd have issues keeping the staff?

You guys know you can stream these stations on your phone, right?

I hope this doesn't mean T&R bolt town. Even though Fred is turning into a liberal grumpy version of Callahan, I really enjoy their perspective from outside "The Lodge."

Although he doesn't make a point of it, but he's right leaning at least. I don't think he is all in on the GOP and the stupid shit going on, he's indicated that he leans right.

He absolutely leans right. I remember back on BCN he donated to Rudy Giuliani around the 08 presidential run.

He’s a libertarian if I remember correctly. Fiscally conservative but very liberal socially. Basically just wants to be left alone at all times

Looks like this is official. Bye bye "CBS Sports Ra-DI-OOOOH!!" bits. And, my guess is Boomer goes back to EEI on Monday mornings where he clearly would rather be.

Not the greatest owners, Beasley purchased Greater Media about a year or two ago and implemented pretty sharp cost-cutting. It's been rumored that the Wally of Loren and Wally was a victim of those budget cuts. Still, it's probably better to have both sports stations under different management. Competition is always better.

Oddly enough, this now mean the three WBZ callsigns: AM (iHeart), FM (Beasley), and TV (CBS) will have different corporate owners.

A classic rock station here in LA is being turned into a Christian station.

Who the fuck thought that was a good idea?

I am guessing goes back to WEEI but he does seem to enjoy the T&R interviews now.

I have been out of market for a year now. What happened post-merger with the secondary hosts b/w TSH and EEI?

I heard Deossi subbing for Dale & Keefe this week, while Dickerson has been doing fill in too. When did they shift from TSH to EEI? Who are the secondary talent on TSH?

I think Dickerson was only on a pay per appearance with TSH. He has been an occasional 3rd host on Dale and Keefe since Holley left in the winter. Dickerson, Andy Hart and Tomase have been rotating as the 3rd host on Dale and Keefe.

Johnson and Flynn are still on TSH bench along with Joe Murray. Not sure if Nick Cattles (sp?) is still with TSH after Christian Arcand was selected as Adam Jones' co-host over him.

Nick Cattles was indeed the co-host of the Adam Jones show, and left to host his own show in Virginia Beach
