Uh, wasn't Devin a free agent? Second chance?Mike Reiss ESPN Staff Writer
With Titans cornerback Jason McCourty writing on Twitter that he is moving on from the team, it naturally sparks speculation that he could land with the Patriots. The Patriots previously discussed trading for McCourty, whose brother, Devin, is a team captain and enters his eighth season in New England. Furthermore, the brothers have previously talked about how they hoped to one day play on the same team in the NFL. For the first time since they both entered the league, now they have the chance.
This is trueI think they actually signed him before official free agency. Maybe
Browns, Smiths, Johnsons? Just going w/ the odds...Besides the Gronks and the Weathers (Clarence and Robert), what other brother combos have we had?
Looked it up myself. Beyond the Gronk and Weathers brothers, we had Whit and Justin Canale in 1968 and Rod and Chuck McSwain in 1987.Browns, Smiths, Johnsons? Just going w/ the odds...
Nice. The Gronks are our #1 combo, in the same way that Hank and Tommie Aaron are the best power hitting tandem.
The brothers Ventrone ...must own a record for combined transactions, at least
I don't think they were related...just coincidentally had the same last name.Jack (hall of famer) Youngblood and Jim Youngblood played together on the Rams from 1973-1984.
Let's stop and re-visit this for a moment:Besides the Gronks and the Weathers (Clarence and Robert), what other brother combos have we had?
Top notch. There was Otis and Antoine Smith...
I'm sure there's a Wang Chung joke here, I just can't find itPatrick and Eugene Chung?
Everybody thought that, or will tonight.I'm sure there's a Wang Chung joke here, I just can't find it
Kyle Brady and Greg Brady.
Seems like $3.9M would be a nice shot across the bow in the Butler negotiation.I can't be the only one excited to see this thread bumped only to find more combinations of same last name players. You guys are killing me.
To add substance, Reiss addressed this today throwing out that JM would be 'lucky to get half of what he would have gotten in TN ($7 mil.).' He uses an admittedly flawed comp with Leon Hall and the Giants at $2 mil. as a comparison.
Point being, if the number is below $4mil or so what would a NE offer look like?
If you're looking to BBTL threads as your source of breaking news about the Patriots, then you have bigger problems than disappointment.I can't be the only one excited to see this thread bumped only to find more combinations of same last name players. You guys are killing me.
Joking aside, is there a better place for updates on day 1 of free agency or Patriots faux scandals? If you're looking to BBTL threads as your source of breaking news about the Patriots, then you have bigger problems than disappointment.
Seriously, this would be funny as hell if the negative of getting caught wasn't so high...Devin says he's not going to the White House. If I'm Jason, I put on a suit and head over to the facility and get on the bus. It's probably as close as he'll get to the fruits of the SB win unless he signs here.
