He is one of the youngest players in the draft. There’s no one who just turned 18, so noting someone is 18 is roughly equivalent to noting they are a very young 19.
Fair. Only 4 months older than Primo.

I'm a bit concerned whether he can actually play basketball after looking at his stats, but at least he's young & bad at basketball, & the videos weren't bad to watch.

I need to look at this in a day or so when I can finally figure out where all these guys actually ended up

Summary from The Athletic:

The idea here is betting on a guy with all the physical tools but none of the feel or necessary skills, yet, to play in the NBA. He should be a terrific driver but doesn’t have the polish or skill yet. He should be a great finisher due to his physicality but doesn’t have the craft. He should be a great defender but is still learning what he needs to do positionally. Basically, it’s a bet on a player who is extremely young learning how to use his tools. And indeed, Begarin’s tools are absolutely ridiculous. It’s hard to find guys who are this tall, with this strong of a frame, with this kind of length, who have his explosiveness out in transition as well as his body control. And he’s shown enough flashes to where he’s not just an athlete, but there is some upside in terms of how he plays. If I was a team that didn’t have a roster spot available, he’d be high on my list in terms of a stash option. — Vecenie

Strus is definitely a better athlete and a lot stronger than Hauser, but Hauser has a bit more length. We'll see; when you can shoot like Hauser does and you have a little bit of length, you'll have a chance to stick. Strength is probably always going to be an issue with him, and he's a below the rim athlete. He could be an end of the bench player if his defense allows it. Certainly worth a flyer to see what happens.

Seems like another tweener. If he can add some athleticism, maybe he'll turn more Quaid than Hauser.

Givony (who's pretty good at this stuff) really likes Begarin:

"Few players in his draft range share his upside, as he likely would have entered this upcoming season as a projected top-20 pick had he elected to withdraw his name from the draft at the deadline. Instead, Begarin intends to come to the NBA immediately and work his way up through the G League, unless the Celtics can convince him to reconsider that after summer league." -- Jonathan Givony

Are people still fretting over losing Max Strus? He was bad in his age 24 season over 500 minutes with MIA
No. It's just an easy, lazy comparison.

When I mentioned Strus, I meant it in a contract sense. He was guaranteed a deal and it become an issue because of Jevonte.

Seems weird to commit to Hauser but maybe he had other offers.

Hauser had other offers, including the Heat it sounds like. I think it's a smart move. Lock up one of your two 2-way deals then let the other play out in SL, maybe you go Tacko again, maybe someone pops for you or someone else and you can get him on a 2-way instead.

Begarin has all the physical tools. He’s 6’6”, 7 foot wingspan, and really strong for an 18 year old. This is the sort of swing for the fences pick a lot of folks here have complained Ainge didn’t make. He has a long ways to go as a basketball player though.
Yes and Yes!!!

All these guys signing Day One likely have multiple offers being in that “top tier” of 30-40 or so. If you really like a guy and have the means to sign him then I don’t find that weird at all. You are going to sign two guys in this manner anyway.......why wouldn’t you want to lock in your top choice?
