I think Kyrie's issues with the night out that evening was that is in the middle of a home-and-road back-to-back which coincided with a start of a 3 game road trip. And Kyrie asked the younger players not to go out, and they did anyway.

While the incident itself is probably not that big of a deal in isolation, it's interesting to look at the box score from that game and see that Tatum, Brown, and Rozier shot a combined 6-24. To be fair, Horford had a bad game as well. But the C's then lost two more roadies against supposedly inferior opponents in Orlando and Brooklyn to close out the trip 0-3, and so it's understandable why Kyrie may have been frustrated.

I sort of wish they had traded Irving/filler for Walker and Zeller at the deadline last year.
In hindsight, this is obvious. AD never happened, it’s become even more clear how much of a malcontent in the locker room Kyrie was, he walked out the door and a couple of our best players followed, and we never really had a chance in the playoffs...

A trade certainly couldn’t have been any worse than that.

How late is too late? 5am is 14 hours before game time, in the NFL that would be 11pm (14 hours before a 1 pm game).
What about the standard 11am shootaround? Sleep science is a part of the analytical data that professional sports teams utilize today. The Warriors employed a scientist to devise sleep programs for their players. I know the Philadelphia Eagles players report their sleep patterns to the team daily. I’m sure there are many others.

Yeah, the party drugs are sort of built in to the hangover. You spend the night drinking, popping E, and snorting a couple of lines of coke and you’re getting a hangover that will last you until Monday.
This would be hilarious but there's no WAY this happened, especially in today's NBA. It's more likely they all stayed up too late playing Fortnite together and eating nachos.

yeah, guys smoke weed now, they don't do the only drugs the league cares about, which come with a massive suspension.

You are correct in that the CBA outlines a players responsibilities to off-the-court appearances however nowhere does it state that a player is required to sign their name to any memorabilia whether their team requests it or not. I stand by my post above on this matter. It would have been nice for Kyrie to sign but he has a right, as all players do, to protect his signature when it comes to signing memorabilia. Don't hate the player, Hate the game.

https://www.steinersports.com/collections/kyrie-irving-autographed-photos
Above is a link for a signed autographed poster of Kyrie selling for $299. Aside from protecting his signature there is also a good chance that Kyrie has an agreement with Steiner Sports or at the very least has to consult with his agent before violating the terms of a promotional agreement which could lead to a lawsuit.

I get those not happy with Kyrie but he does have the right to protect himself against devaluing his memorabilia in the marketplace at best and possible litigation at worst. There are a ton of high profile athletes who don't sign for free which is why the market for their stuff can be $500-2000 or more.......you can't find LeBron, Aaron Rodgers, or Tiger Woods autographs out there without paying a premium.
Dude, come the fuck on....it’s autographed basketballs for charity that are sanctioned by and directly through the team.

I honestly don’t even understand how this is a discussion or something where there’s push back on. Everyone else signed the basketball and of course Kyrie can do whatever the hell he likes. However, choosing to not sign the basketballs is an incredibly shitty thing to do and it’s something deserving of backlash and ridicule.

So exactly the type of performance Kyrie put up against the Bucks in the last four games? What was his excuse?

I would love to know how sleep science accounts for players winding down after games. I know some people have no trouble playing games; going home; and getting to sleep. For me, it takes me hours to wind down. Not surprise that a lot of pro athletes medicate themselves to deal with this.

Who fucking cares about this. The choice to give back and do charity stuff belongs to the individual. This talk radio garbage belongs somewhere else. This is a basketball subforum.

Yeah, let's talk about why KD apparently doesn't want to play with Kyrie all of a sudden.

Latest word is Kyrie is going to get the 4/$141M offer from Nets and that if that happens, KD does not want to be seen as being the second guy to sign somewhere.

Feels like it'll be a tough look for the Nets if they come out of this offseason maxing Kyrie and Harris after hoping for KD.

Amazing how bad the last 4 months have been for Kyrie. From a Celtics superteam forming with AD, to rumors he/KD were going to set up their own superteam wherever they wanted to the rest of the NBA realizing how toxic Kyrie can be to a poor series that saw his team eliminated to losing his potential Kyrie/KD/AD superteam when the ping pong balls turned to NO to KD's injury.... and finally to an offseason where only one team seems to seriously be pursuing him given his Cancerous Robin reputation and every star is looking for a sexier dance partner over him.

Kyrie has a memorabilia contract with Steiner Sports. The company has been involved in multiple lawsuits over the years with athletes regarding authenticity of signatures. All I’m saying is that there is a good chance Kyrie doesn’t want to be sued by Steiner, who isn’t opposed to utilizing litigation for profit against athletes, for violating his contract.

Also very lame. But at least he was like a borderline MVP candidate (I guess).

It's inconsequential which players the Celtics marketing staff decides to fete with little videos...just tacky and cheap, imho.

I don't know if he will, but it's pretty lame stuff.
Agreed. You’re de-valuing these things if you give one to every good player that comes through. Horford had a great 3 years but that’s all it was. And then he chose to go to a rival. I’m not going to harbor some Rondo-esque grudge but I’m not going out of my way to throw flowers at his feet or anything.

With that said, players notice these things so may be more of a marketing play, which I would support.

I agree, I’d prefer they are reserved for Paul Pierce types....but in the current climate I’d be surprised if Al didn’t get it

Anyone see Kyrie's little Brooklyn video? He's "always" wanted to play at home.

I don't know. I think he blew up the Celtics because he had no idea how a leader operates (Yes, there were other issues too) but he was certainly fun to watch when he was on.

I'm a big Horford fan, but honestly, I don't want to see a tribute video. It'd be different if the team had gone to the Finals or something and he had played amazing. When you add in leaving town to go to the Sixers, when he didn't really have to, makes me feel like it was all just a business. Which is fine. But, don't expect me to get all weepy when you accept the highest offer available to you to come here, and leave for the highest offer available to you.

Didn't this guy say he felt a connection to Boston because his father played college ball there?

I've never wished ill will on a player, but if Kyrie does a Durant/Cousins and blows out an achilles, I won't shed one tear.

Spencer Dinwiddie was on podcast with Shams and said Kyrie called him in December and was saying things about how “NY might be really fun next year.” So, just 2-3 months after telling Boston he was going to stay.
