Kroenke, Jones, and Goodell all sound like complete assholes.
Fantastic article on the behind-the-scenes machinations of how the vote went down.

I live in LA and the Carson proposal would have been a fucking disaster. I have been to quite a few Galaxy games in Carson and after the games are over, the only thing to do is drive to local fast food joints to eat in an attempt to sober up before driving home. At least with the Inglewood proposal, Kroenke is trying to make the stadium and surrounding area a post-game destination like the Staples Center.
I mean... Or you could, like, go home after the game. Sports facilities being "destinations" for non-sports activities is a pretty recent phenomenon. Stadiums existed without restaurants and hotels nearby for about 100 years (and still typically do). There might be flaws with the Carson plan (judging from the article), but it sounds like it had better access, traffic, and parking plans than Kroenke's vision, and if I were funding a stadium those would be more pressing concerns than how much additional money the owner could squeeze out of people by having a few restaurants nearby, as well.

La Mancha.
The article was not about about Goodall, but it certainly took a few shots at him. It also made the NFL look pretty awful. Quite a departure from the usual ESPN treatment of the league.

Interesting developments in what I initially perceived to be a long shot lawsuit by St. Louis against Kroenke/the Rams/NFL over the move to LA. The judge has ordered Goodell, Kroenke, Jerry Jones, John Mara and Kraft to turn over information regarding their net worth for the purposes of determining punitive damages. IANAL, but this seems like the city is in a good position to either recover serious damages or get a big settlement from the league.

Seth Wickersham with another play by play from inside the owners meetings this week:

-Jeff Pash and Stan Kroenke gave a presentation about the St.Louis lawsuit that seems to be going very badly for the league. Kroenke said that he was sorry for the negative attention that the lawsuit has brought but argued it wasn’t his fault.

-Goodell thanks Kroenke for his statement and asked him to leave the room, whereupon Pash informs the remaining owners that Kroenke is looking to back out of the indemnification agreement he signed as part of the Rams relocation agreement. This would leave the league/owners on the hook for legal fees(already in the tens of millions and up to now covered by Kroenke) and damages resulting from the lawsuit.

-The owners (except for Jerry Jones, apparently Kroenke’s only supporter) went predictably nuts, with Kraft and Mara both saying that the relocation vote would have never been approved without Kroenke agreeing to indemnify the league. Irsay demanded that Kroenke come back to the room and answer questions, but Jones said he wouldn’t without a lawyer (!) present and indicated that SK is likely to sue the league over the indemnification agreement.

Long story short, the Rams may very well be screwed in the STL lawsuit and there’s about to be a civil war between the owners over the fallout.

The plaintiffs have about a 2 billion dollar annual budget. 1 billion in damages/settlement is real money for them.

A. Do we think the source for Seth is Kraft?
B. Was it Kraft who had the "shaky deposition"

I guess that B would rule out A.

A monetary settlement is nearing completion in the Rams relocation lawsuit, a source with direct knowledge of the negotiations told the Post-Dispatch late Tuesday night.
The figure of the settlement was not disclosed.
Lawyers representing Rams owner Stan Kroenke and the NFL were in St. Louis on Tuesday for a mediation session with lawyers representing the city, county and the Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority to discuss settlement possibilities. A source said lawyers were working late Tuesday night to inform all NFL owners of the deal.
