Easily the best and most creative headman passes they’ve had that I’ve seen all year. Just tons of speed and possession entering the zone.

I can’t get over how consistently well they moved the puck all night. Great game, regardless.

It really didn’t look like much, even on multiple replays. And he got his scoring chance.

Pasta rang the post two times before that. Need to cash one of those in. Also the SHG never should have happened. Oh well.

Good Christ Swayman, I know it’s Stamkos from the dot but at least make him earn it. That shot went in beside his shoulder because he was cheating middle, not over it.

Cost them the first goal too.

Common refrain is Ullmark sucks and Swayman is good but the truth they’ve both been average to bad.

Not sure why Pasta didn’t create more separation on the breakaway - he’s faster than he showed there, and it’s not a moment for your legs to admit fatigue, there. Weird.

I believe he had been out there after an icing? Not sure if I remembered that right.

I like him long term and he’s clearly got some great potential but he’s not a 1A goalie yet. This is all natural growing pains but they can’t afford to let him figure it out on the fly when they are running out of margin for error to even make the playoffs.

Edit: I don’t think Ulmark is the answer either but Swayman built his early statistical lead on him purely on the quality of competition discrepancy.

It's hard to pin down Swayman. His rebound "control" is not great, and the limited times I've seen him it sure looks like he has trouble protecting the top part of the net. Also there was Cirelli chance where I felt like he could've easily come forward to play the puck out of danger and almost found himself in an awkward position.

Wasn't he at the end of a long shift?
Yeah, but you have the game on your stick and can empty the tank over the last 150’. The borderline interference fucked with the quality of his chance and, with a few strong strides, it didn’t have to. There’s a hidden pocket of fuel in any hockey player’s tank for moments like that - for whatever reason, he couldn’t draw on it, or didn’t think separation would be critical. It was.

1-1-1 week after the tumultuous Monday with the Marchand news, DeBrusk news and COVID. Probably would d taken 3 points if offered but their performance deserved at least another point

3 days off before a Western Canada road trip. Wonder if they try to get the DeBrusk deal done before the trip.

Just back from the game tonight couple of points:
1. Holy shit does this team miss tuukka. That first goal was an abomination of goaltending. His rebound control was incredibly under rated while he was here. I say this as a long-term believer in swayman.
2. The hook at the end of the game wouldn't have been as egregious had the refs not called not one, but two, puppy shit soft hooking calls on the Bruins.
3. Again the bruins seem to be playing with different rules than the lightning.
Its a overall a positive considering they were without 2 of their 4 best players.
4. Fuck 15 dollar beers

Just frustrated to watch replays long after the play of Maroon cross checking Pasta right in the lower back out in the open and nothing.

Then you see those soft penalty calls against the Bruins.

I love hockey and I love the Bruins. And between the schedule, the joke of a suspension on 63, and the ongoing bullshit officiating, I am about to cash out on the NHL for the rest of the season.

I mean...I won't of course, but I should.
