Looking at some numbers and wow I forgot how bad John Moore is. A worse signing than Backes, in my opinion.
I don’t mind the cap hit, but the term is a killer. They are going to have to trade either him or Miller if they ever get to the point where both are healthy. Term might be an issue in trading Moore. Miller can’t stay healthy. It could be some tricky waters to navigate. Maybe Miller never comes back.

Moore will be exposed in the expansion draft... with the makeup of the D corps, that alone should be valuable, assuming he plays 40 games next year (or chips away at enough games this year to hit 70 in two years).

If the Bruins re-sign Krug, I imagine they'd go for 8 skaters / 1 goalie protected:

Bergeron
Marchand
Pastrnak
Coyle
Krug
McAvoy
Grzelcyk
Carlo

Rask (assuming he's re-signed)

DeBrusk / Heinen are the big potential losses there... but Krug / Coyle would both have some level oF NTC protection and have to be protected, basically comes down to whether they'd rather lose one of Grz/Carlo vs. one of DeBrusk/Heinen

If they don't retain Krug, 7F 3D is a foregone conclusion IMO

Bergeron
Marchand
Pastrnak
Coyle
DeBrusk
Heinen
Bjork

McAvoy
Grzelcyk
Carlo

Rask

Dammit, I had seats in one of the suites for this one, and minimoret comes down with scarlet fever! They were from my wife's employer, so she had to throw them back. I hope Ed from Finance enjoys what should have been my seat.

At first read I thought the illness came from the employer. Good luck to the mini.

Ed from Finance is a dick. Always has been. Always will.

Saw the Hawks play the Avs last Friday. The Hawks outshot Colorado something like 30 to 20 but most of the shots were from less dangerous areas. Crawford starting for Chicago and let up one of the softest goals I've seen about a minute in followed by two more not great ones (at least from my vantage point). He also changed pads between periods, not only changing pads but also the brand of pads. That was something odd I've never seen before.

awesome stuff

I think you're likely on to something here. The term is stupid outside Sweeney thinking ahead to this expansion draft and making sure to hold onto usable-but-not-great-or-expensive players that he can easily expose in the expansion draft.

I know. Had to calm him down after the diagnosis. It sounds so dramatic. Fortunately, his main symptom is the rash, none of the other strep boogeymen. So he's got that going for him. But I'm keeping this in my back pocket for when we're arguing about something else down the road.
Good material for the first time he brings a date to meet the parents.

Glad he's got a mild version!

Games over right? I read somewhere that 1st period goals now are worth triple points or something.

I was about to post the same thing. Looks like crap and the puck is bouncing around. Fire the Zamboni!

So Moore just LTIR'd himself. Left shoulder looked to be hanging down, maybe a collarbone if not another shoulder issue

Nothing on Smith leaving his feet to catch Pastrnak and you call some ticky tack shit behind the play. Never change, O'Halloran
