Is the 5 a major? Note: I'm not watching the game...following via this thread.
Yes. Minor penalties are 2 minutes, Majors are 5, and Misconducts are 10. Game Misconducts are 10+ejection.

Kane got all 4. The first 3 for his fight, and the Game Misconduct for chirping the refs from the box.

Thanks. I figured that was the case, but was unfamiliar with the 2-5-10 nomenclature.

Yeah, love you but disagree. That’s the kind of fight that should be out of the game. You’re losing 4-1, deal with it. Backes should have pointed at the score board, laughed, and skated away.
Agreed. 4-1, Sharks were completely out of control. The fake, create 2:00 on Chara was garbage and encouraged the Sharks.

Both the Sharks' and Bruins' replays are up on /r/hockey. You can frame-by-frame the hit on Kane that he complained about. Chara tucks his elbow in and puts his left hip right into Kane's abs and his left shoulder into Kane's face. Great check.

I mean, that's a tough call for an elbow...Chara's arm was at his side. Kane throwing punches while Z was on the ground is really asking for it too.

edit: and I do agree with everyone that I'm okay with a rule 48 penalty (which may as well be an elbow I guess), even if it's a borderline call.

Watched the replay - doesn't look like an elbow, but Chara's shoulder does catch Kane in the head and I'd be fine with 2 minutes for that.

In the meantime, I'm really liking what I'm seeing from this team now and a lot of that is owed to DeBrusk's recent emergence.

Was at the game. Boston just shut it down after the Backes fight. Domination with a fluke goal that went against. I think shots were 30-13 at some point. I don’t like Evander Kane.

It's a shame they seem to have whiffed so badly on the other two picks from that year but DeBrusk is a stud. Great net drive, puts his body in harm's way, and generally works his ass off to put pucks in the net. Also doesn't hurt that he is a plus celebrator. Looking at a 25 goal season in year 2, not too bad.

That's pretty funny by Kane.

I love him- if he was a Bruin he'd be an absolute fan favorite. Got what he deserved last night though.
