Does the signing of that deal make him more tradeable or is that an indication that they like him a lot or is there a short term cap component to it? Sometimes modern sports management makes following the game annoying... lol

Assuming he's no longer waivers exempt, this has to mean there's another move coming. They have 9 defensemen who are not waivers exempt.

The extension doesn’t impact this year. He remain waivers exempt through the end of this season. He loses the exemption next year.

This is a reasonable extension but I don’t think it changes much. Lauzon ets a guaranteed $1.7 million, team gets a cheap NHLdepth player. Still tradeable if something comes along.

$850K is effectively a minimum salary to avoid arbitration next year. He gets a guaranteed $1.7M while the Bruins lock him at a low depth D rate. If he were to secure a regular spot in the line up next year he could easily end up at a much higher rate through arbitration. The 2 year contract does mean that if he will be under contract during the Seattle expansion draft.
