The only thing I can think is he confused only one TV timeout (first non-icing stoppage after 10 minutes played) with a need to change ends as with outdoor games.

It's all so stupid.

A) They happily support Tom Wilson
B) Tuukka is a goalie. His dominant hand is the blocker hand. What else is he supposed to defend himself with when got run and his helmet was pulled off? His glove?
C) They happily support Tom Wilson
D) Marchy has hurt the team with his BS in this series and I wish he'd knock it off
E) Fuck Tom Wilson

"I am a subject matter expert in sports officiating." Wow, that sounds impressive. Which Stanley Cup Final did he ref? Or was it a Super Bowl?
He makes a good point, though-- if there's one player in this series who is a "thug," everyone agrees that it is Tuukka Rask.

It’s über douchey, but he is actually knowledgable: he runs a referee assignor business for youth sports in the DC area and it’s apparently lucrative enough to have evolved from a side gig into a legit business.

But still—the lack of self-awareness necessary to make that comment...

Next time I play tenbis, I know who to call.

Getting mad about a goalie blockering a player in the ribs immediately after said player runs the goalie and knocks his mask off (and is Garnet fucking Hathaway) if peak Caps fan. Tom Wilson could machete a player to death on the ice and they'd be mad when that players teammate throws an extra punch after the refs come in.

It's just logistics, like a blocker to the ribs is the optimal path to the caps fan's tears.

The refs have been unbelievably terrible in this series. And I really can't understand why the NBC crew is so in love with the Caps. It is like Jeter is out there. The sweet justice of thrashing them in the 5th game is going to be good!

What a dominant performance. CBC announcers went from game 1 "Ovie for president!" to "WTF is wrong with Caps being so predicatable on Pp" and "Pasta is a goal scorer that makes teammates better"

I’ve been putting my NHL.tv account to use to avoid dealing with the NBC crew. Were they saying all this during the Jets-Oilers intermission?

On a somber note, Miller’s likely done for a while, so let’s all gear up for the (probable) Jarred Tinordi Playoff Experience.

Caught the 1st period on caps radio while headed to dinner and to their credit the announcer people said the bruins were dominant everywhere but the score and that it was only a matter of time before things got bad. Came out and it was 4-1 with 2 mins left. Sad trombones (and the obligatory "we'll find out how nicked up they are when the series is over") filled the airwaves.

I think the training staff is going to be working overtime to get either Zboril or Lauzon back on the ice for Game 5.

I’m still fucking PISSED at the minor call on the unprotected LAUNCH into Miller’s head. He spent the night in Mass Gen.

Between here and everywhere.
As I think about it - I’d prefer Tinordi.

The Bruins have gone up 3-1 in the series playing with essentially 5 D in two of the games, anyways.

If game 5 gets out of hand with the Bruins going up by 2 or more goals, I’m more comfortable in Tinordi policing up anything on the ice than Kampfer.

And if it’s a close game, they shelter his minutes and have McAvoy double shift now and then with the 5th D in high leverage situations.

It’s gonna be a little tougher to manage those matchups because they lose last change, but I think if the rest of the team shows up tomorrow the same way they did last night, this is over in 5 anyways.

I don't think either will (or should) play much at all. Clifton will fill in on both sides, and the top 4 will get a ton of minutes. The big advantage to Tinordi is putting him out there if the game is a blowout and things start getting out of hand.

I think I'd go with Vaak... the last thing I'd want is an offensive outburst from the Caps, and I think he is least likely to contribute to that.

The Caps have last change, I think they'd hunt Tinordi - in my eyes he'd be more limited.

I'm on team Tinordi.

Last change matters, for sure, but the Bruins really only need about 12-14 minutes (max) of ice time out of Miller's replacement, and changing out a left stick defender in the first and third periods is pretty easy once you get the puck over mid ice.

(edit: and while Cassidy is not making this a priority, Tinordi also gives them an even 3-3 balance of L/R on the D)

Series 5v5 summary for the Bs:
51.37% attempts
50.59% shots-on-goal
51.95% chances
61.54% high-danger chances
11.3 to 8.17 expected goals
11 to 7 actual goals

All situations summary:
51.72% attempts
50.58% shots-on-goal
52.92% chances
57.80% high-danger chances
15.88 to 12.93 expected goals
16 to 10 actual goals

The key takeaways I'm seeing are:
1. Possession was pretty close to even through the series, but the Bruins did a much better job breaking down the Caps' defense.
2. Goaltending was a difference-maker. Anderson and Samsonov were pretty much average (0.12 worse than expected goals, 0.908 save percentage) but Tuukka was overall excellent (almost 3 better than expected goals, .941 save percentage).
3. The Bruins got the better of special teams play: 5 to 3 in actual goals.
