Apparently Elway wants Manning back and said he and Fox "disagreed about how to take the team to the next level". My first reaction is to think Fox may have wanted to move on from Peyton, while Elway wants to keep the crew together and take another shot.
Elway also thought the team hadn't shown enough fight in the past two playoff losses. I think that's a silly reason to can fox-sometimes you just get whipped and players can look lackadaisical when they're confused no matter how hard they're trying- but I'm thrilled to see who Elway hires to be a master motivator.

Marty may well have been too conservative in CLE -- it's been so long I can't remember. But by the time he got to San Diego, he was a broken old man -- like a dog who'd been whacked with the rolled up newspaper too many times.
