They'll sign another vet center, plus Gallo is a more a PF nowadaysSo do Horford and Time Lord. Am I the only one who thought Theis would have gotten a lot of playing time in 2022-23?

Sure but both times they moved them to get much better players than you expect to draft, as long as Wyc will write checks moving 1sts one year in advance is a nice way to get more talent at low riskOverall like the deal. But this will be at least 2 straight years without a first rounder pending any further deals.
Yeah, the C's sure benefitted from Romeo and AN.Overall like the deal. But this will be at least 2 straight years without a first rounder pending any further deals.
I think it's more the turnovers than anything else. Smart's shooting isn't the problem.Casual fan .... but, money aside, is this an indication they weren't happy with Smart taking so many shots
3 years...don't care about missing out on the 30th pickOverall like the deal. But this will be at least 2 straight years without a first rounder pending any further deals.
Thax, should have added that to my question. I didn't follow much during the reg season, but the turnovers, team-we, in the playoffs were shocking to meI think it's more the turnovers than anything else. Smart's shooting isn't the problem.
I missed this.
All the other flotsam included gets us there. How does this trade work from a cap perspective? He makes too much for the TPE and I don’t think the salaries match.
And unlike Jaylen, Brogdon is an excellent FT shooter (88% career and 86% last year vs. 71% and 76% for Jaylen).Underrated aspect of Brogdon's game: he got to the free throw lines nearly as much as Jaylen last year.

Thanks for posting that. I hadn't taken the time to fully visualize what the rotation looks like now. Wow is right.TL
Horford
Tatum
Brown
Smart
GWill
Gallo
White
Brogdon
Wow
This.Proof positive that none of us, including those in the media, really knows what the fuck is going on behind the scenes.
My bad - I had checked Spotrac before posting, too. Not sure how I screwed that up.
All the other flotsam included gets us there.
Ah, that’s great. Hell of a trade. They added Stauskas, Fitts and Morgan to match salaries.
Free money for those guys!
Congrats fellas.
I think they saw, like us, that they need more playmaking especially with the 2nd unit.Casual fan .... but, money aside, is this an indication they weren't happy with Smart taking so many shots
Brad explicitly called out playmaking as a need after the finals. Didn't think he meant it this hard though...love it.I think they saw, like us, that they need more playmaking especially with the 2nd unit.
And that's why Smart/White/Brogdon can all co-exist. Injuries are likely to make enough minutes available, and also we can keep everyone fresh for the playoffs.Just to throw a little cold water on this trade.
Jesus Christ, this is like one of those trades someone proposes on the 93.7 or 98.5, all the guys one team doesn't need for someone on the other team that's pretty good.
Not to quibble, but we didn't just need playmaking, we needed someone who could score and get the ball moving without coughing it up every couple minutes, especially in crunch time. There's no reason anymore for Smart or Jaylen to have the ball in their hands for long stretches of time in disadvantageous matchups. Teams are going to really struggle to double-team Tatum if Brogdon is out there at the end of games instead of Smart or White. My two cents.I think they saw, like us, that they need more playmaking especially with the 2nd unit.
It's not a new thing either, right? Wasn't health what caused him to drop in the draft? Man...just stay healthy for a couple years....Just to throw a little cold water on this trade.

a healthy Brogdon would be the Celtics' best PGNot to quibble, but we didn't just need playmaking, we needed someone who could score and get the ball moving without coughing it up every couple minutes, especially in crunch time. I tend to agree with you here. Playmaking, ball handling, creating were all needs. Brogdon can get to the line and he shoots almost 90% from the line. Good defensively too. In terms of what the team needed, a healthy Brodgon is it.Not to quibble, but we didn't just need playmaking, we needed someone who could score and get the ball moving without coughing it up every couple minutes, especially in crunch time. With Horford being 35 or 36, adding 2 decent players and losing none of your core 7 seems like a no brainer. And that's why Smart/White/Brogdon can all co-exist. Injuries are likely to make enough minutes available, and also we can keep everyone fresh for the playoffs.
Hate it
Walking injury machime

Aaaaaaaand...I am not reading any post in this thread yet…….
but if there is one person who even remotely, no wait. If there is one person who doesn’t absolutely LOVE this trade I will question your sanity as a Celtics fan. Holy crap Brad Fvckin Stevens!!!!!!
Yeah, I mean I'm over the moon.I tend to agree with you here. Playmaking, ball handling, creating were all needs. Brogdon can get to the line and he shoots almost 90% from the line. Good defensively too. In terms of what the team needed, a healthy Brodgon is it.
I see exactly one bonafide All-Star PG in Brogdon, Smart, who has really been miscast as a PG and is really better when he's focusing on defense, White, who's best as a back-up, and PP, who is a point guard... in summer league.Hate it

I'd think someone bigger than that is going out.Have to think Pritchard is heading out.
Wait, I thought that Wyc wouldn't pony up money. Did we get new ownership?
Dammit. I had the same posts queued upAaaaaaaand...
FIGHT
Just getting back into hoops after not watching much for twenty years but why? He's pretty cheap and not a terrible fourth guard/ninth or tenth man, especially with some injury prone points in front of him.Have to think Pritchard is heading out.
I think Brogdon coming off injury will be fine easing in... Season 2 though...I'd think someone bigger than that is going out.
Unless the Celtics start smaller, or move Horford, I sadly think Smart is going out.
I don't see either Brogdon or Smart being happy coming off the bench, and they shouldn't be.
They're both too good.
