Brian Scalabrine: "I'm Coming Home"

I always believed that I’d return to Boston and finish my career there.  I just didn’t know when.  After the season, I went to see 22 Jump Street.  Then, I saw They Came Together with Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler.  It was delightful. But I have two girls and one boy. We have a lovely family.  I started thinking about what it would be like to raise my family in Boston, well not like downtown, more like Metro West or at least twenty minutes outside the city.  I looked at other teams, but I wasn’t going to leave Oakland for anywhere except Boston…or maybe Chicago…or maybe Brooklyn…or possibly Los Angeles to go back with Doc.  The more time passed, the more it felt right.  This is what makes me happy.

I just finished this too and it was really well done. My favorite part is "BY BRIAN SCALABRINE AS TOLD BY BRIAN SCALABRINE"

ok, so shouldn't this be in the media forum?

this is their way to confusingly announce that CSNNE will have a 3-man booth next season (Mike, Tommy and the White Mamba)?

Its getting dusty in here. I mean, this is brilliant but they really do need to clean my office every once in a while.

Incredible.

And also, already censored.  Apparently someone has edited out the parts about the Oakland hood and the private equity lines.

Specifics about Scalabrine's full role with CSNNE are vague, but he will serve as the color analyst on the majority of road broadcasts. Tommy Heinsohn, the longtime color analyst, calls the home games. He will also contribute to various CSNNE programs, including the Celtics studio shows. A network spokeswoman said more details will be revealed when the broadcast schedule is announced.

The opening line is so perfect, because there isn't a better place for Scalabrine to be from than a place called Enumclaw, Washington.

Scalabrine does such a great job of playing to his image. He really does seem like the guy that we would all be if we where the 12th man on a basketball team.

I guess I was kind of like the fans except I had a courtside seat for free and if we were up by 20 with less than two minutes to play I would get to go into the game.

Except, of course, most people in that situation aren't signed to 5 year contracts.

Hilarious. A tad racist, but classy racist.
Not seeing the tad, Ed.

That is, unless a little mocking of His Highness is tantamount to a tad of racist.

Away from that thoroughly enjoyable piece, I'm glad Scal is back on CSNNE and will be calling some games with Gorman.  He brings candor and freshness that most guys leave behind.  This is a win.

too bad Steve Kerr didn't want Scal on the bench

He was on Toucher and Rich this morning and talked a little about his situation. He said Warriors ownership liked him and offered him a chance to interview for a spot. He also said he got calls from a few other places with coaching opportunities but he has younger children he thought it would be better to spend with his family for a few years. Good interview
