Bloom is a fucking nihilist, man.

I've always kind of enjoyed watching soft tossing lefties somehow manage to get major league hitters out, so his 2018 wasn't so bad. But he really showed nothing at all last year.

The Sox need to add Taylor and Hernandez to the 40 man roster in the next week or so. Who would you have dumped to also get Johnson to Boston? You know what he is, not good, I'd rather roll with the new guys that have some interesting quality or pitch at least.

Agreed - my last memory of Brian Johnson was him getting thunderstruck for 3 runs in the first against the Phillies last August

I'm surprised they wouldn't give him a shot instead of rolling with an opener so often.

We're starting Brasier tonight. How much worse could Johnson be than that?
This is where I am at as well. Given the current state of the Sox pitching staff, if Johnson couldn’t get a shot now it says a lot about how he is viewed by the organization.

Of course, as a soft-tossing lefty, he'll dominate the Red Sox for his new team

Both Taylor and Hernandez were only put on the 10 Day IL on 7/14. They're already on the 40 man. They could've moved Eduardo Rodriguez, who is still only on the 10 day, to the 60 IL to make room on the 40 man. Not that I'm advocating for Johnson, but it could've easily been done.

I think this post is suggesting those pitchers chosen instead of Johnson possess the ability to generate a quality of contact or type of contact that might be conducive to success had Jose Peraza not been born with hands like feet. However, I prefer the alternative interpretation that the Red Sox are interested in their qualities as a person— “Ryan Weber can’t pitch for shit but damn if he isn’t a genius when it comes to making fresh pico de gallo.”
