Isn't that Moncada? Worst case you are stuck with Shaw or Holt at 3b.
Moncada is moving to LF in the speculation being commented on above.

Can't see that happening though, even in the event JBJ was traded. As also noted above you have to almost plan for Pablo to fail at this point, and Moncada at least gives you a long term one at 3B.

Depending on what kind of market ends up being out there for him, a guy like Reddick could make sense if going down the trade JBJ route.

Probably like 1:1. It's hard to get worse than 2015.
Sorry Bosox, I guess I didn't mean improve just for 2017. I meant looking at the likely arc of his career, do we expect him to improve as our young guys do, or not. In other words, is his career path trending upward overall, or downward? It's the future so we don't KNOW, but while I think it's possible for a bounce back- I also think his general trajectory is one of a player on the downside of his career. Enough so that I wonder (but don't know), if X, Betts, Bradley etc. best years will coincide with many of the worst years of Sandovals career with us.

My fear is that they will.

The wrong side of the bridge....

I don't think you have to worry about "worst years." Henry is too smart a businessman not to recognize a sunk cost when he sees it. They have to give him a shot next year, if only because there's no slam-dunk alternative, but if he doesn't show clear signs of improving on 2015, he won't be in the lineup for long, and probably not on the roster for long either.

Probably a good point Savin, I always get worried when a high priced guy starts to slide because of the pressure that's usually on teams to continue to justify the contract. That's probably not a worry here. My other concern would be a mediocre (but not horrible Panda) blocking an "unknown" like Moncada. I could see a team taking the safer plan if it felt like a high risk/high reward player may tank a season. Not that one player would tank a season, but perhaps that our support players need to simply be average...so you take the more sure thing.

Either way, I'm sure youre right on this.
