I went ahead and started a sports injury blog, my first post is of course about TB12's shoulder...

https://chrisgearyortho.com/2017/10/11/tom-brady-and-the-terrible-horrible-no-good-very-bad-ac-joint/
Nice blog. Very informative on the AC joint, and what risk there is to his shoulder in playing. Is there risk of injury to a related area (clavicle for example) as a result of current weakness in the AC joint?

Also, if you're looking for other topics to blog about, as we all come to grips with the end of the Red Sox season, some posters questioned whether some of the hand and foot injuries could have been handled better with perhaps better results for the individual player and the team if they had gotten more days off to heal. Specifically Moreland, X and maybe even Betts come to mind. Maybe there's a topic in there somewhere?

Anyway, great article - thanks for sharing.

You... do not

I meant to send you a PM or something, but forgot - you were very good on the Fantasy Football Show a few weeks back. And fuck you, you were right about Newton's shoulder. The discussion on the difference between his injury and Luck's was very well explained.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.

Sometimes I hate being right...

Always - I am a straight-up media whore
And at @$10 per diagnosis quite reasonable.

Francesa @WFAN used to have an orthopedic surgeon as a weekly guest when he had his Sunday AM NFL show to discuss injuries (severity/time to heal etc) is that something in your wheelhouse? .

If so, can the PR people at Tufts Med put out some pieces or is that an ethical no-no?

The PR people at Tufts are... less than ideal, which is ironic, since I married one of them.

I'm doing the 98.5 Sports Hub Fantasy Show on Sunday mornings this season on occasion. I'm friends with Evan Drellich and Alex Speier, I'm always working those angles

My son recently broke his arm (Sheard off a piece of the upper arm where it meets the Joint) while playing football. He also suffered a relatively severe Brachial Plexus injury at birth which limited his mobility (@10%....He actually saw Dr. Waters at Boston Childrens). Its interesting seeing the pictures in your linked article compared to his "distinctly different" shoulder xrays we have seen over the last month. Thanks for doing this and helping to explain Bradys situation.

Hey, is it cool with you if I pimp your blog on the book of faces? I assume you are pro exposure, but think it polite to ask first.

I feel obliged to say that I now have this saved in my favorites as “Paging DRS.”

Here’s to hoping I never have to check it.

Any press is good press. Actually, that's not true. At all. But yes, pimp away - thanks!

Loved the shots of the knee surgeries. You all have to have major suction on that to keep the blood out?
Nah, its arthroscopic so the fluid pressure tamps down the bleeding

FYI, I'll be on 98.5 tomorrow talking about Brady's shoulder at 9:35 AM, not that there's really anything new to discuss

That's the stuff that Gage and DeSoto were told by Rampart to give to pretty much every single patient they treated on Emergency! Must be good stuff.
Call the Hangover Doc (no, really, they advertise on the sports talk stations here) and find out for yourself in the comfort of your own home or office.

Huh, that's interesting about E-Rod.

Hopefully he can start trusting that knee again, I can definitely see how that would fuck with your brain on every pitch - keeping how your knee feels in mind the entire time.

So, Doc. Just how painful is this for regular Joes and not super-human Joes like Joe Thomas?
I mean, "detached tendon" that "rolls up" sound like it'll knock me out.
