Not only will j-man straighten or your team's roster in 10 moves or less, but he'll put your regional sports network's program director to shame! :)

The only think I like about these shows are Trenne, and Curran (but on non football he sucks). I like Holley, I guess too.

They should let Trenne and Keefe somethng get their own show, fire Tanguay, and drop Curran to about 30 minutes of those 2 hours and only to talk football.

I don't get what's going on with this, at all. 4 people is too much and it seems they're all angry with each other, I miss the 1/2 hour wrap up show at night :(

Sports fighting is all the rage (pun definitely intended)!

Just wait until the hockey and basketball seasons end and we're in the middle of a dry patch and we can watch people argue for four hours about the backup catcher or the fifth starter. Or maybe a Patriots player will burp into a microphone and we can talk about that for five straight days. Or maybe the Bruins and Celtics might think about contemplating a trade with another team and we can hear how "That will just FUCKING suck!" or "That will make them FUCKING championship contenders!"

It'll be magical. You'll tell your grandchildren where you were during the innocent summer of 2017.

i have tried to get into the bst but the 4 host thing is too much and Curran needs to stick to just football
Curran is fine talking about the other sports but he has to have been talked into this/not given a choice. He's such a good football writer and I can't imagine being stuck recording this night after night after night won't take away from his journalistic responsibilities.

Did anyone but me hear Tom E. Curran and Gary Tanguay say the word "bullshit" on the air when they were arguing with each other over the Best Buddies charity non-story? Mike Giardi walked off the set after Tom threw the curse word out there after Gary. Talk about a shit show. Gary Tanguay is a cancer in Boston media.

Felger was taken aback and just sat there in disbelief that they could say "bullshit" at 6 o'clock in the evening, lol. Not even bleep from the producers. Hope Gary gets canned.

FYI, the law (that First Amendment thing) allows you to say bullshit, and fuck for that matter, on non-broadcast (FCC licensed) outlets at any time. Most basic cable nets just act like broadcasters and voluntarily follow along.

If this 'bullshit' programming, it wasn't a debate it was Curran and Tanguay yelling over each other, is how CSN is now filling every evening NESN-level management must now be in charge.

How'd these new shows do in the May ratings book? Maybe CSN needs to go 'Anchorman' and break out the tridents for buzz effect to get eyeballs.
I'm not one for wishing injury on anyone, but maybe just wounding Tanguay with a trident gets him out of action for a month or two.

I did. As with all things new, seems weird at first but will take some getting use to. It's a lot bigger...the images on the screen.

Does Taunguay have contacts with a mobster that keeps him employed? I have yet to meet a single fan who doesn't, to put it in the nicest terms, wish he wasn't on tv/radio.

Trenne is about as good as it gets. She is also smart on politics, is a mental health advocacy. Honestly, I wish she cover something more meaningful than sports. She isn't Bob Ryan etc.... there are better, local sports people. But she is good enough at sports, but just very talented, reasonable etc...

In other words, she sticks out like a sore thumb with this crowd of simpletons she works with, especially in morning radio. Two racists and a progressive/mental health advocate who likes David Zirin.

If Trenne were a male, or an unattractive female, D/M would hate her so much.

Holy shit is Tanguay infuriating. I do not watch or listen to anything he is ever on, so I'm not helping his case, but his latest hot take on his CSNNE commercial today

"Looks like Isiah Thomas may be out 6-9 months with his hip injury, so this leads to the question of why didn't the Celtics draft a guard, say Fultz?"

It's either dishonest, a hot takez or he's a moron. This commercial makes me turn off the network. He's awful.

It doesn't have to be an either/or type of thing

I heard about a week ago that he's back on EEI. I for the life of me can't understand how he's lasted this long in Boston media. He must've made a deal with the devil.

There's this myth that some radio people believe. It's that if listeners repeatedly call in to say "Tanguay sucks!!", that he's creating some kind of buzz. However, that's not really buzz. He just sucks.

John Ryder has been appearing late at night and on Red Sox pregame recently. I completely forgot about him and have no idea what he has been doing for the last few years. Anybody know why he left/why he's back?

I think Ryder was laid off a few years ago when EEI placed Mut with Mikey Adams at night and Mut handled the Red Sox postgame duties. With Mut taking on an increased role (temporarily?) on the morning show lately, I guess they needed someone to fill in for the Sox postgame.

Mut has been needed nearly full time for the drivetime AM show, with Kirk missing most of the last several months because of the back-to-back passings of his parents. Also, Gerry missed a week for his mother's death. Mut has been basically covering for one of them since April, and while he sometimes pulls double duty in the AM and with the Sox games, that schedule has got to be wearing on the guy.

Further, I bet there are only a few approved pre- and post- game hosts in the EEI/Red Sox contract. Mut, Vilani (also part time), and Ryder. I dunno who else on their roster can run the board and host a solo call in show - they haven't got a deep bench.

Ken Laird, one of the morning producers, does the Sox gig as well.
Like Mut there is a limit to how many times you can do both and he really is a full timer in the morning.

yeah, I did a double take on Sunday when I heard the name John Ryder, but when I listened closely I didn't recognize the voice.

He's pretty average, although that role and having to do it by yourself really limits how expressive someone can be.

so Pete Shepphard has a permanent gig down in FL now: http://1gxzc93590942r58jhr8mg5p.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/PeteSheppard-1.pdf

and apparently John Ryder back on WEEI is now semi-regular for weekends and weekday fill-in:

Couple noteable returns on local dial - after a three year absence, former WEEI nighttime host John Ryder has returned to Red Sox Radio broadcasts on WEEI as weekend and fill-in pre and postgame host earlier June. Ryder is still working with ESPN Radio in CT

Postgame Live on CSNNE for a preseason game tonight? Really?
Yeah it seems weird that our country's most popular sport, in the wake of our local team winning the whole shebang last season, regional sportcentric channels might devote an hour or so to the conclusion of a sporting contest featuring New England in their first time back on a playing field since February.

Wild shit.

Oh and here's the thing, no one has a gun pointed at your head forcing you to watch. There's always Sudoku.

It's pre-season. Big whoop. Use the BST crew, since they're already on the air.

What are we going to get from analysis on 3rd and short failure by the third stringers?
Why not? It's not like there's anything else going on and they have to fill airtime somehow.

Do yourself a favor. Go back and reread what I wrote, this time account for how wildly popular the NFL is and how, again, that sportcentric channels may focus on this. I'm not understanding where the mystery is for you.

It's actually pretty easy to draw the line from point a to point b in this instance.

Guys, why does the most (in)famous sporting network have 365 NFL coverage even after the season concludes? Why is that?

Why again do they broadcast the HOF game again? I don't understand. What is hardknocks?

Felgey and Troy and Ty need preseason reps too, you know.
They're cutting into Michael Holley, Tom Giles and Kayce Smith's playing time.

My eyes will be glued to WHDH, waiting for them to bring in their breaking news as Jimmy G comes in to replace Brady in the game.

While I'm at it, get off my lawn...
