In Boston? Have Jonathan F'in Richman! Christ! He should have a statue of him in that city but barely anyone still knows who the hell the guy even is.
I third, or fourth, this suggestion. But not for the Star Spangled Banner.
New England is good, or Roadrunner, or the most Boston of songs, Government Center.

Pretty much anyone else would be a better choice. With that said, I thought he actually did OK. He sped it up a bit, so at least I didn't fall asleep.
True JT story: my wife is a huge fan, me not so much. To me, every one of his songs sound the same. Anyway, many years ago I surprised her with tix to see JT at Mansfield (whatever it's called now). I made it through the set, although I was quite bored. And then the encore...people are standing, singing, clapping, etc. And I fell asleep.

Phish. Guster, and Grace Potter are all good suggestions. Have to continue that independent theme with Susan Tedeschi and Ryan Montbleau.

He reminds me that there are a lot of boring people on the planet who only kind of like music, and mostly want something comforting on in the background while they do something else.

I know he is from NY, but Neil Diamond?
If Neil's going to be at Fenway, it's to sing Sweet Caroline, not the anthem.

He retired from touring at the start of the year because he has Parkinsons. I don't think he travels much anymore, and he lives in Colorado now.

If Aerosmith (from NH) can be considered "Boston" then can we add the Talking Heads and Dinosaur Jr to bands that should perform the National Anthem?
