Do the Cars still play? The Pixies would be a huge get IMO, their audience definitely skews younger than they are (plus they're, well, the Pixies).BSO are game 2
Bell Biv Devoe
The Cars is/are also a good one
Steven Tyler on vocals and Joe Perry on guitar probably are being saved for a possible game 6 or 7
Agree on Jonathan Richman (and the Modern Lovers!) Might be some folks who would recognize him or his voice from Something About Mary.In Boston? Have Jonathan F'in Richman! Christ! He should have a statue of him in that city but barely anyone still knows who the hell the guy even is.
I think this is just a thread for Lester Bangs wannabes to bash James TaylorWhy is it important who sings the anthem? Are we looking for someone who will do a masterful job with it? Someone to create another Whitney Houston at Super Bowl 25 moment? Is it just about having someone with clear ties to Boston or the team itself?
Because I don't really care one way or the other. I'd be fine with them just playing it on the organ. I'm not going to be watching the pregame festivities anyway and I can't think of a singer that would make me want to.
So you guys don't care, therefore nobody else does? The team picks its anthem singers pretty carefully, and for a reason. It's a show. What are they saying about themselves with the choice? I started the pushback by questioning why the message has to be old classic rock guys over and over. I like JT but he's not the team mascot. He doesn't need to be here every postseason.I think this is just a thread for Lester Bangs wannabes to bash James Taylor
