Sounds like Bergy is out for an extended period of time. Right when he was leading the league in scoring too. Figures.

That's not good news. At least it wasn't his head, which was the initial concern. Hopefully this spurs them to make a deal for a center. I don't see how they can survive with what they have now

All the more reason to hope the non Z defensemen are back soon. They can survive with 6 NHL defensemen but not with this patchwork.

It kinda reminded me of the Jimmy Garoppolo injury against the Dolphins. All the weight landing on the shoulder. That was a sprain, right? Kinda hope it is that and not something with structural damage.

This could be a season derailing injury. They were already thin at C to begin with. They are in a position of weakness on the trade market now, can’t see them swinging any sort of trade in the short term.

My assumption is Krejci, JFK, Kuraly, Cave down the middle short-term, with Frederic considered if any of the other three falter - Backes doesn't have the legs for C, and Donato should stick to wing at the NHL level to start IMO.

Man alive, if they get out of 2018 still in a playoff position, it'll be a miracle

Trial by fire to see who belongs in the NHL. Could be fun to watch. Sometimes.

It's a little too early to panic. They're sitting in a playoff spot right now, and I'm not sold on Montreal and Buffalo still.

The defense will get healthy. They had injuries last year and made the playoffs. Bergeron missed 20 games last year. It's why some of the projections had them as one of the best teams in the league.

Keeping pace with Toronto and Tampa might be a big ask now with the injuries.

Tough needle to thread, but the 1st WC spot is probably the place to be this year.

Tampa lost Vasilevskiy for 4 or so weeks, so that helps us at least keep pace. Domingue is not a good goalie.

This just ruined my whole winter. It sounds to me (not an expert) that this is going to be a lot longer than 4 weeks. 4 weeks for "re-evaluation" is just.... man I wish someone had fucking clobbered the asshole that took him out.

I suppose it's not useful posting to say "I ❤ Bergeron", but I've had a few beers, and he's the best Bruins player of our generation. He's been around so long, I tend to think he's older than he is. Still, hockey is such a hard game, and to see he and Chara on the shelf tells me this won't last forever. That said, I agree with the sentiment that this may make winning the division unrealistic, but doesn't have to jeopardize playoff hockey, or an extended run therein.

Rafters.

I’m 41 quickly coming up on 42, been a Bruins fans since my grandfather was going to Boston Arena. I saw Ray Bourque, I fell in love with Cam Neely when I was 10 years old. I saw that season Adam Oates put up. I’ve watched 12 years of Zdeno Chara’s hall of fame career, I watched Tim Thomas lose his goddamn mind for 3 years. I witnessed peak Milan
Lucic. I think David Pastrnak is special and Charlie McAvoy may be too.

But when I have grandkids, I’ll tell them that they will never understand just how good Patrice Bergeron was.

This team is making the playoffs. We’ll see what’s up then.

I fucking love you @Dummy Hoy

I really can't add anything else to this thread but I want everyone to know just how pissed off I am about this. It wasn't even a fucking hockey play that he got hurt on. It was a completely unnecessary hit that didn't affect the play on the ice in any way. Fuck Radek Faksa in the god damned ear.
