Beltran steps down as Mets manager

Nah. I've said already that I won't be surprised by anything that comes out of the various investigations. I'm hopeful that the Yankees didn't cross any lines after the memo came out, but we'll see.

And I know every sports team has its share of trollish fans. Thankfully not many on SOSH, so I don't mind too much when a couple of them start to sound off.

where I was last at
I think it shows up in the "I'm outraged you would suggest the Ys might be involved in unethical behavior" posts that sprinkle these threads.

I think even the posters know they're full of shit, but are just busting chops.

Posted this in another thread, but perhaps it's better suited here......

I have absolutely no issue with Cora having to take his medicine and honestly ALL Astros' staff and players involved in anyway deserve a little something something as well. That said I have a problem with MLB naming Beltran as a player, but not naming any other players. YES, I understand the whole deal about the nightmare that would be with the MLBPA, the can of worms it opens and the litigation that will surely result from it. With that in mind you can't protect and absolve the others (because that is exactly what MLB has done) and hang Beltran out to dry just because you can or does MLB have a grand plan to reveal the names of others one by one once they are no longer in the game? Of course they don't and because of that I think they've set Beltran up as a "victim" and set themselves up for a lawsuit. I'm curious to hear from some of the legal minds here.

Yankees fans here seem awfully triggered by any suggestion...on a Red Sox board...that they may not be completely innocent in all this.
Some Yanks cheated on steroids for many years and I feel kind of guilty about that. But right now, this electronic sign stealing scandal is kind of fun to watch. It is so 2020. Everybody wanted replay reviews. This is what grew out of that desire. Only took a few years.

I'm biased, but I don't think Yankee fans on SOSH have been outright trolling - that's a dangerous game. At the same time, I'm sure some posts have probably flirted with rubbing it in a bit, and that's going to be amplified at the moment because Sox fans are going through some shit right now. My personal take: unless there's some new evidence that comes out, I think that what the Sox did probably wasn't much compared to the Astros, who seem to have been above and beyond the rest of MLB when it comes to sign stealing schemes, and the current investigation will probably just reveal that their sin was continuing to do it after the memo went out to cut that shit out. And I think the Yankees and many other teams were probably doing more or less the same stuff beforehand. The key difference - and this could always change if new stuff comes out - is that the Sox apparently kept doing it when everyone else (besides the Astros) stopped. It's not a big deal, but it's not nothing.

That said - the crap about the sainted Yankees and the desperate clinging to a Logan Morrison tweet is a bad look. Just stop. If The Athletic publishes a story tonight that Beltran rigged up a trash can scheme for the Yankees last year, do you really think MLB will ignore it because they love the Yankees so much? Please. There's no pro-Yankee conspiracy behind all of this.

I'm going out for a while, but someone should start a "Did the Yankees Cheat?" thread in the Yankee section as I think it would probably help all of these threads to have the NY back and forths in one place.

"Regarding video of Cora talking about Beltran helping Yankees in '19. MLB sources reaffirm this AM they're not investigating NYY. Video could easily be talking pitch tipping/legal sign stealing. NYY have adamantly denied CB helped them do anything illegal. League corroborates"

"Adding to this: Beltran did not share with the Yankees what Houston did in 2017. If anything, the Yanks would have appreciated more help in defending against their 2019 ALCS opponents' methods, but Beltran didn't cop his '19 bosses what went on in '17."

"When Beltran stayed for Yankees games last year, he often watched from the stands with a friend, not in the clubhouse."

Dunno how true all of that is or not, but it would be easy to prove wrong if he was lying, especially the stands/clubhouse thing at the end.

Right Here
Loathe as I am to defend the NYY, but this is purely on Houston big-time and (hopefully) to a smaller degree Boston. This isn't the NFL and the Patriots contrived Various-gates. There is smoke. There is fire.

All that is out there (that isn't rumor) for NY is before the 2017 reset. Anything else appears to be wishful thinking (and believe me I wish it was everyone else). The line was fairly clear in 2017, that what was done was done. If any more BS happens going forward, it will be dealt with. Houston ignored it. Boston may have as well.

If the Sox skirted the rules, we need to own it and move on.

In case it hasn’t been made sufficiently clear by other moderators, it’s not OK to attack fans of other teams based on that affiliation. I removed a post that did this and suspended the poster.
