Snell's splits, 2020:

1st PA against him: .140/.253/.209/.462
2nd PA against him: .307/.350/.627/.977
3rd PA against him: .304/.304/.609/.913

Betts' splits, 2020:

1st PA against starter: .311/.415/.489/.904
2nd PA against starter: .255/.300/.553/.853
3rd PA against starter: .229/.357/.420/.786
That's 23 ABs for Snell for 3rd time through order.

It was a bad move.

I thoroughly hate the new baseball trend of "every playoff game is a bullpen game."

I do realize that the 2018 Sox were kinda on that whole bandwagon, but still... can we get a starter to go 7 innings?

The analytics need to cede to manager intuition sometimes. I can't imagine Cash liked pulling Snell there.

what’s the point of even paying a manager then if you’re the Rays?

why not just have an intern from the front office call the umpire to reflexively make pitching changes when prime randy johnson is about to face the top of the order for the 3rd time?

I love Mookie and Roberts, but that pisses me off.

HA--Mookie slugged .218 versus LHP this year. Rays computer miss that?

On the bright side for Tampa, by pulling Snell, maybe he's got a few bullets left for tomorrow night if they make it til then.

The computers are good for a long season but you gotta see how Snell is crushing it, better than season average, and leave him in there.

"Blake Snell's final line: 5.1 IP, 9 SO, 2 H, 0 BB, 1 R His Game Score of 69 is the best in #WorldSeries history by a pitcher who didn't reach 6 IP " - Baseball Reference

Snell was pitching just as well in Game 2 and he fell off a cliff super quickly in the fifth. He wasn’t going to face Mookie with a man on base. The mistake is using Anderson. He was incredible all year but has not been good in the playoffs. They did not adjust away from him being their high leverage ace quickly enough.

I wish I didn’t mind the Dodgers, because after watching the Rays this series, it’s getting tougher to muster enthusiasm for them. It’s starting to feel like they deserve to lose.

with only two true starters on their roster right now, and a black hole at closer, they are not quite the superteam the media is making them out to be. The Rays seem unequipped though to exploit them.
