The Albany Very Good Danes were apparently 2-7 coming in. With their 2 wins against the alma mater of Tony Romo and Sean Payton and Jimmy G by 2 points (QB U of the Midwest, Eastern Illinois) and of Robert Kraft (Columbia) by 1 point. Last time Columbia won the Ivy (in mens basketball) was 1968.

BC forfeits tomorrow @ Wake, due to COVID

https://bceagles.com/news/2021/12/21/mens-basketball-boston-college-at-wake-forest-mens-basketball-game-canceled.aspx
"Following the ACC's 2021-22 COVID-19 Game Rescheduling Policy, the game will be deemed a forfeit, with Boston College receiving a loss in the conference standings and Wake Forest receiving a win."

Man, I really wish the pros had this system but that's a topic for another thread.
My friend who has some BC contacts tells me that this is due to a staffer that tested positive, and not a player (yet, anyway).

Someone tweeted that the actual number of people that showed up for the NC game was incredibly small (don't go by the published attendance). Losing, Patriots Game, Kids on Break, Covid....and did I say Losing?

They ended up playing the game 57-87. Hope Grant's got some decent ballplayers coming in, 'cause this group's going nowhere.

Late response but his first class is spectacular and likely the highest rated class BCs had with two 4-stars. I think he’s done a nice job with what he has and agree the talent deficiency is tough.

Haven’t watched them this year but seems like they’re solidly entrenched in the middle of the back half of the ACC with solid effort from a not too talented group? Better than the back half of the back half.

How’s the crowd reaction to K at the game? Anyone there in person? ACCN is stuck with free throws for Nc state Pitt end of game

Was at the game at as one of the board’s handful of Wake fans, and as someone emotionally immature, I must start out bemoaning the incredibly tight officiating. The game had no flow and was not great to watch.

I further must blame my beloved Deacs for failing to hit a goddamn free throw. Awful.

And finally, I tip my cap to BC. They played tough, patiently, and intelligently. It pains me to write that, believe me. But when BC set up their half court offense, they almost always got an opportunity.

This team has exceeded my expectations all season. Yeah, they were blown out a few times, but they're way more competitive than last year. Before the season started I was afraid they might go oh-fer in conf. But I really like what Grant is bringing to the table. With a good recruiting class (on paper at least) coming in I'm looking forward to next season for the first time in quite a while. Keep the upsets coming!

Who was the broadcaster on 850 AM, along w/Danya Abrams? I thought Meter still did the play-by-play.

Yeah - that loss took me back to many of Wake’s past postseason choke jobs. Felt like the good old days.

Well the ending was very BC at least.
On brand, that’s for sure. I had no idea how close that shot before OT was to going in. Damn.

Oh well, Duke would have smoked them and you have to like how Grant got his team to play this year. Some nice recruits coming in as well.

Agreed. If they hit on one of the 4 stars (Hand seems like the real deal) and at least 2 of the others are legit ACC rotation guys then combined with some good pieces in place (Post, Bick and JZ) this team is on the right track.

Add continued improvement from DeMarr and maybe a transfer and who knows what happens.

Yup. We are a great landing spot for portal transfers given the ACC connection and perpetual open spots. Clearly need another ball handler and Jackery looks to be one of the better shooters we’ve had in a while. He needed more looks yesterday. Neither Kanye nor Gianni look overly impressive but they’re young so who knows.

Bottom line is that this team might be on the right track. This was always going to be a rough W/L year. They lost 11 games by 10 points or less so they were generally competitive despite because outgunned in talent most games.

That's way too much turnover at that position. Do they look at an OSU underling again? I liked Jarmond's visibility and openness.

No way I am starting the new thread after this football disaster. Will leave it to someone else but some encouraging news coming out of early secret scrimmages.
