AJ Turner left the program and he was one of the only ACC starting caliber players BC had. He wasn't great but this team is so inexperienced and thin that it's a big loss.

Christian hasn't been able to recruit well. Bowman has become quite the player but he wasn't highly touted. I think in basketball more than football, stars do matter and Christian is having trouble pulling 3*, let alone any 4*.

Hopefully this will be his last season and Jarmond will be able to get a quality coach in here who can re-energize the program.

Al Skinner built a pretty good program here with overlooked recruits, so I don't think it's absolutely necessary. Obviously it would be more desirable to bring in highly-touted players, rather than perennially relying on diamonds in the rough, but BC's never going to be that kind of program even on its best days.

I somehow missed Turner leaving the program. It's such an embarrassment. It all starts with recruiting, but you also have to keep these guys at BC so they can develop. Robinson and Bowman will be playing with freshmen and assorted trash once again because everyone they came in with has either left or just plain sucks.

It's not a team that would make the tourney, but imagine going into next year with Jerome, Ky, Turner, SBT, Diallo, Milon, and Hicks all having 2-3 years playing together? That team could have been halfway decent and would at least be able to provide some excitement.

I understand a lot of these guys didn't work out due to personality and/or circumstance, but when that becomes a predictable trend, you have to look at the coaches and staff. This is not normal. It's putrid. Impossible to build any semblance of a program when you bleed recruits and tenured players.

Al had shown an ability to take diamonds in the rough while the only ability Christian has shown is to lose a ton of games in the ACC. I need at least some semblance of a track record before I start even remotely trusting the staff.

If an ACC bball team can't bring in 3* players consistently, might as well move to the AAC.

Hooray, we got a guy who had no offers until late in his senior year.
He was 6'2" as a junior, and now he has requisite length (6'8" with a 7'1" wingspan) to play the PF spot with his guard's game. It could be a really great pickup for them once he grows into his new frame. He's one of those guys I'm keeping an eye on given that his father also had that same sort of growth spurt the last two years of high school.

Thad Matta out at OSU. Wondering if a school who'd just hired an assistant AD from OSU might need a coach who's won 20 8 years in a row and has a lame duck garbage coach currently?

BC got some F from Illinois State the other day as a 5th year.
Well, yeah Deontae Hawkins. The best player on a 28 win mid major team. A 6'8" 230 pound, athletic stretch 4, who shot 44% from 3pt last year

That's a pretty big pick up. With Bowman, Robinson, and Hawkins you've got some real scoring chops. No idea about the rest of the roster though.

In the 2 million dollar purse game (in the 2017 National Basketball Tournament), he missed a free throw to tie the championship game with a couple seconds left. His team pledged to give all the winnings to Pete Frates.

Still haven't forgiven him for blowing the inbounds defense against Nova 10 years ago.

BC assistant coach Stan Heath leaves for a head coaching job in the renamed NBA G league. Might be just as well for all parties as it is hard to see what positive impact Heath had at BC

BC got a commitment from Wynston Tabbs the 135th ranked player in the class of 18 .

The team heads off on their summer trip to the Caribbean this week. The roster still isn't locked down as they are still expecting to add 1 or 2 5th year players. Hawkins graduates next week, and will probably make his final call then, seems like BC still has a great chance there

Deontae Hawkins is officially an Eagle after 6 weeks of looking around

If any of the Freshman work out quickly this can become an interesting team this year

The Eagles finally landed a top 150 player in Wynston Tabbs from the class of '18. The 2019 Eagles could be an interesting squad if Little Vin can fill out and take over as a stretch 4 with Bowman and Robinson. They might actually break .500.

Bowman/Robinson/Hawkins trio gives BC a sliver of hope this year to not be, like, the worst team ever but I still think the rest of the team is meh (or worse) until proven otherwise.

Well if they do hire a better coach, I'd hope that Tabbs would stay anyway.

That's pretty much exactly what I was saying. Unless that coach is Spinelli and the new one decides to keep him because he's an awesome recruiter.

BC jumps out to a 3-0 start to the year. Rough first half tonight against Sacred Heart, but they blew the doors off them in the second half.

Teddy Hawkins is very good, a real leader for the team and tough
Ky Bowman, off to a slow start on the year, one would expect big nights in the future, will need them when they play better teams
Jerome Robinson, 2 very mediocre games followed by the worst game of his career tonight
Steffon Mitchell is the real deal. He will compete for All Freshman team honors in ACC, and seems like he can be a 25-30 minute a night player this year,
Jordan Chatman looks like a better player than last year

The Center duor is still a question. Pos shows it at times, but struggled with fould tonight.
John Carlos Reyes would be an all conference type player in the America East. He looks improved over last year. He has always flashed skills, but we'll see if he can deliver on them this year

Problem is, that appears to be all there is

Luka Kraljevic will be a solid role player as a big in time, but will only get minutes when there is foul troubles this year
Vin Baker Junior looks like he might be a good player in a year or two. He has some skills, but needs strength
Avery Wilson looks a bit smaller than expected to me. He does have quick hands on defense. He missed everything from Spring until late october with injury trouble, and seems way behind the rest right now. So far he has only gotten real garbage time in the 3 games

Hawkins was a huge pickup. Gives the team a real shot at NIT Bowman/Robinson can get going. Really like Mitchell.

Winnable game against a good opponent and they puked all over themselves down the stretch. Nobody outside of Bowman wants the ball. Robinson continues to play like shit. Popovic had a really good 2nd half so that was encouraging.

Might as well cancel the season. This team is going to get destroyed in ACC play.

What a half of basketball.

Of course they are going to have to do just as well in the second half to have a chance to win.

Actually were in the bonus at like 1630 but no fouls called since. BC 1-4 from 3 this half after going 11-16 first half
