I expect you are going to see a ton of Chancellor getting matched up on Gronk similar to what Seattle did against Denver and Julius Thomas last year.
Yup but the big difference is Thomas is soft as hell and Gronk isn't.

Someone is probably going to die in this matchup.  Not sure who but I get a very Thunderdome-ish feeling from Gronk v BamBam

Pats match up well with Seattle. Not many weapons on offense. A smaller DL they can use 6 OL against and road grade on. A secondary that has trouble against slot receivers and TEs. A decided special teams advantage. Playing Seattle on a neutral field.

If Stork plays(and he was seen tonight walking fine) the OL is fine. Keep Mr. interception in the pocket and limit his scrambles.

dunno if Green Bay proved it, but "force Wilson to make passes into heavy coverage to his receivers who can't get separation" seems like a good game plan that the Parriots have the personnel to execute.

I love this game, in part because bandwagon national fans hate both these teams and they can go pound sand as far as I'm concerned.

The 12th man thing is clearly the worse thing in all of football. College town antics from a professional football franchise and they are actually proud of it. Seahawks and their fans make it very easy to dislike that team. They might be the only team on the nfl that can make the pats a sympathetic figure in the Super Bowl.

Clearly underdogs? Why?
Seattle won the NFC, is the defending champ, beat GB twice, beat Denver and they have not lost since mid november.

I get it, they do not score points and some of that schedule is pretty soft. But that D is for real and I will be amazed if the Pats are not underdogs.

The more lubricated I get the more ways I can see the Pats winning this but I cannot imagine this being easy.

You and I have very different definitions of "clearly".

The Seahawks opened as 2.5-point favorites at multiple Las Vegas sports books, but the number was down to a Pick 'em at the Westgate Superbook and the William Hill and Wynn sports books within an hour after opening. CG Technology was holding at Seattle -1. The MGM had the Patriots as 1-point favorites

Pats crushed Denver as well. Denver proved to be a fraud.

Betting lines are a little iffy because they don't necessarily reflect what the odds makers actually think, but rather how they can encourage a 50/50 betting populace.

That being said, I think it's a good matchup. If anything, I think Seattle's schedule has been soft.

Seattle should be the favorite.  But the Patriots may end up being one of the best teams that's the underdog in recent SB memory.

Pick 'em is right. Seahawks have ways to burn the Patriots but their defense is not as deep as it was last year. They could be vulnerable against Blount and I could see the Patriots exploiting match ups with Amendola and Lafell against nickel sets.

Without Tate and Harvin, don't see a lot of receivers to worry about. But you never know with these things.

Well of course it won't be this easy. But, this isn't a Seattle team that can't be beaten by any means. Their run in the last part of the season was fueled by playing a soft schedule and getting extremely fortunate today. GB showed everyone how to attack their D: run the football and attack the middle of the field.

Wow, watching NFLN now. Rich Eisen, Marshall Faulk, et al just absolutely took a veiled shot at Ray Lewis' comment about "this only happened because of the Tuck Rule." I now have even more respect for Eisen!

Honestly, why should Seattle be the favorite?

#1 defense in football
#1 running game in football
defending Super Bowl champ

The only thing NE has over them is a better passing attack, really.  And that's not small potatoes.  It's a big, big deal.  And the line should be very close.  But Seattle deserves to be the favorite, IMO.

Which sets up perfectly for NE.

Had Russell Wilson not completely shit the bed today this game would have been much closer (instead of the throat stomping it looked like GB was going to lay on Seattle)

In the first half GB only started two of their drives on their side of the 40 yard line (one being the opening kickoff and the other the endzone interception by Shields.  Their four scoring drives in the first half started at the SEA19, SEA23, SEA33 and GB44 (with the last one being their only TD of the game).

Seattle's defense was not the problem today as they held the vaunted GB offense to 306 total yards (including Lacy to 73).  If they do that against NE in the Superbowl I'll take my chances that Wilson doesnt shit the bed again.

This matchup absolutely terrifies me.

I'm curious to see how the injury situations shake out. Will Bryan Stork be ready to play? If so, how effective will he be? Kline at guard against the Seattle front seven doesn't give me much confidence.

For Seattle both Sherman and Thomas were hurt and will get MRIs tomorrow. Both promise to play though FWIW.

I actually like the matchup for both defenses and anticipate this will be a low scoring game. I do worry about the Pats going against Wilson even though he has had an off-year for him.

Yeah.
It is not like GB is trotting out the Jets offense. It is pretty amazing that GB sat at 16 for so long when they should have been at 28 early in the second quarter.

Revis will take away somebody. Who of Seattle's WRs will have a big day?

Seriously, this is just as bad as trolling directly.

This is a really interesting matchup. Two physical secondaries that are likely going to be allowed to get after it relatively flag free. Pats won't look as good and Seahawks won't look as iffy as today. Hard to see this being anything but a 60 (+?) minute nailbiter.

Green Bay has been one of the best running teams over the last half of the season, the Patriots haven't shown that ability against better D's.  And the Seahawks are one of the better D's, their run D being their weakness has been overblown.  We laugh when everyone brings up the "blueprint" to beat the Patriots and I think that applies here.  McDaniels has been brilliant in the postseason and I feel pretty confident they figure out a way to put up points again, but I don't think they go run heavy.

On defense Lynch is always a worry.  You can scheme to take him away all day but he's a physical freak like Gronk and he can screw you anyway.

It's going to be fun.  I feel pretty good about the game and this team.

If Bill Belichick is coaching Green Bay, who wins that game today?

That was Aaron Rodgers, on one leg, on the road. I think maybe that's important for context.

Defense is real interesting because the Seahawks don't have anyone that should be able to beat man coverage regularly. Revis can erase one of those guys and Browner should have some insight on who he matches up well with. The TE weakness is unlikely to cause problems freeing up Collins to raise havoc, Seems like its gonna leave BB and Patricia with a lot of chess pieces to stop Lynch and contain a running QB and I kinda like their chances to come up with something good.
